Disney/ABC Television Group Scores 50 Daytime Emmy Nominations

The Disney/ABC Television Group received 50 nominations for the 40st Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards announced today live on ABC News' 'Good Morning America.' 'General Hospital' was honored with 19 nominations, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series. 'The View' received its 14th nomination for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment. ABC News' 'Good Morning America' received its seventh consecutive nomination for Outstanding Morning Program. 'Good Morning America' has won the award in three out of six years since the category was created. 'Good Afternoon America,' the one hour extension of 'Good Morning America,' was nominated for Outstanding Original Song for 'Good Afternoon,' written and performed by Little Big Town.

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE with host Meredith Vieira will help to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ABC's hit drama 'General Hospital,' featuring Finola Hughes ('Anna Devane') and Jason Thompson ('Dr. Patrick Drake') as contestants tonight, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2. The 'Millionaire' episodes will coincide with 'General Hospital's' 50th anniversary on April 1 (2pm on ABC).

That being the era of Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and 'power dressing', it highlights the fact that for all our progress, the 1% still control the 99%, and women are still subject to more social scrutiny and censure than men.
