Tony-Winning Composer Jason Robert Brown Set for Red Branch Theatre Company's Benefit Concert, 3/17

Acclaimed and renowned American musical theatre composer Jason Robert Brown will present a benefit cabaret entitled 'I Could Be In Love With Someone Like You' on Monday, March 17 to kick of Red Branch Theatre Company's 2014 season. Howard County restaurant Iron Bridge Wine Company will cater the affair with Irish-themed favorites in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Proceeds will benefit Red Branch Theatre Company's annual operating budget. This promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime event given the opportunity to see this prominent composer in a rare concert appearance in the theatre's intimate, 100-seat space. To top off the cabaret, Mr. Brown will accompany alums of TYA, Drama Learning Center's teen professional company, and the casts of The Love/Loss Cycle in one of his compositions during the evening's performance.

Jason Robert Brown's SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD to Run 3/28-30 at BAC

The BAC Professional Theatre Series will present Jason Robert Brown's "Songs for A New World," Fri., Mar. 28, 7:30 p.m., Sat., Mar. 29, 7:30 p.m., Sun., Mar. 30, 4:30 p.m. at the Beverly Arts Center (BAC), 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago.

THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY Cast Recording in the Works from Ghostlight

Ghostlight Records will record the original Broadway cast recording of The Bridges of Madison County, the new romantic musical by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning team of Marsha Norman ('night Mother, The Color Purple) and Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Parade).

Native Voices at the Autry Presents World Premiere of STAND-OFF AT HWY #37, Now thru 3/16

Native Voices at the Autry continues its vital role as the country's only equity theatre company dedicated exclusively to developing the work of Native American Playwrights with the world premiere Equity production of Stand-Off at HWY #37 by Vickie Ramirez (Tuscarora*), directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera, featuring 16 performances running from tonight, February 28 to Sunday, March 16, 2014 (previews Wednesday and Thursday, February 26-27) at the Wells Fargo Theater.

BWW Interviews: Ceasar Fernando Barajas Talks His Career and Teaching

Houston native, Cesar Fernando Barajas has been working hard as a professional performer for years. He recently relocated to New York City, where he is currently making a living doing what he loves. Next week, he'll be returning home for a highly anticipated Q&A on March 6th and to teach a workshop on March 7th at The Wilson School of Acting & Musical Theatre. Recently, I got to speak with Cesar Fernando Barajas about his career and his passion for motivating and inspiring others.

LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, TRIBES and More Set for Actors Theatre of Louisville's 51st Season

The 51st Season lineup will include a world-premiere reimagining of Love's Labour's Lost, the musical The Last Five Years, a production of Nina Raine's emotionally-charged drama Tribes, award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size, and the return of Naomi Iizuka's At the Vanishing Point-a beautifully-observed portrait of Butchertown with an original score by Ben Sollee. From the exhilaration of infatuation to the heart-wrenching tale of lost love, from one person's fight to find a voice to the dreams and voices of an entire community, the lineup features powerful stories and some of the most exciting artists working in theatre today.

BWW Reviews: THE LAST FIVE YEARS Gets a New Vision from LungFish

Before you start the lynch mob against LungFish Productions for altering Jason Robert Brown's "The Last Five Years" let me assure you that not one word of the original has been changed. It's the intent of the piece as how it's told that director and conceiver Kyle James Traver has reimagined and while I wasn't 100% sold on the new vision, it's still a beautiful piece from some incredible performers.

The Bridges of Madison County, the new musical based on the best selling novel by Robert James Waller, opened last night, February 20, 2014, at 8:00 PM at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). Four-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara reunites with Bartlett Sher, the Tony- winning director of South Pacific and The Light in the Piazza, for a stunning new musical by the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning team of Marsha Norman and Jason Robert Brown. O'Hara is joined onstage by Steven Pasquale('Rescue Me', reasons to be pretty). BroadwayWorld was backstage with the cast last night and you can check out the opening night cake below!

NightBlue Theater to Stage SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, 3/7-30

NightBlue Performing Arts Company proudly presents Jason Robert Brown's 'Songs for a New World' March 7 through March 30 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont. 'Songs for a New World' was Brown's first produced show and features 16 songs connected by the common theme 'the moment of transition'. NightBlue's Artistic Director David Walters directs 'Songs for a New World'.
