Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and The Really Useful Group have announced that Jason Donovan will star as 'Captain Von Trapp' in their smash hit production of the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical 'THE SOUND OF MUSIC'. Jason will play the role when the show visits Hull New Theatre (29 January - 12 February 2011), Regent Theatre Stoke (15 February - 5 March 2011) Derry Millennium Forum (15 March - 2 April 2011), Dublin Canal Theatre (5 - 30 April 2011), King's Theatre Glasgow (10 May - 4 June 2010) and the Leeds Grand Theatre (7 - 25 June 2011).

Bookings are open through 28 May 2011. The show's star, Jason Donovan hangs up his heels and says farewell to PRISCILLA on 29 May, 2010 after 14 months and over 450 performances.

Originally written more than forty years ago as a 30-minute pop cantata for performance in schools, Joseph was one of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's first collaborations. Fueled by early praise and a desire to expand the show, Rice and Webber modified the script, and Joseph was professionally staged as a full-scale musical in 1972. It achieved worldwide acclaim on professional stages and tours, and quickly became a regular fixture on amateur stages and in church performances. Jason Donovan, Donny Osmond, Phillip Schofield, Gareth Gates and Lee Mead have all played the title role of Joseph in major productions.

In addition Oliver Thornton won Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, Brian Thomson won Best Set Design and the late Ross Coleman won the award for Best Choreographer. The 2010 Whatsonstage Awards were voted for by a record 46,000 theatregoers.
