Shakespeare & Company has announced Lovers' Spat - Shakespeare's Famous Couple's Encounters on Saturday, February 18 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, February 19 at 2:00 pm.

Shakespeare & Company presented The Two Gentlemen of Verona last night and Broadwayworld was at the opening.  Written by William Shakespeare, and directed by Co-Artistic Director Jonathan Croy, this early romantic comedy takes a gleeful look at the fickle nature of young love, playing in-the-round at the Tina Packer Playhouse throughSeptember 4, 2016.

Shakespeare & Company will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Bard during this 39th performance season with a newly configured theatre, and will debut its first production in-the-round with The Merchant of Venice, directed by Founder Tina Packer and featuring Jonathan Epstein as Shylock. This controversial and poignant play opens the Tina Packer Playhouse on July 1, and runs through August 21. 

Imagine:  you're a peasant woman in 15th century France, and your teenage daughter has taken strange.  It seems she's having visions of St. Catherine, who's instructed her to lead the French army to victory over the invading English. In pants. And armor. Yep:  you call her Joanie, but we know her as Joan of Arc.

Last night, Shakespeare & Company presented the world premiere of Mother of the Maid, a powerful and wry drama by Emmy award-winning writer, producer and director Jane Anderson, starring Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer, directed by Matthew Penn, and Broadwayworld's Stephen Sorokoff was on the scene. Shakespeare & Company has finalized casting for its 38th performance season, and released a complete schedule of Opening Night dates. The announcement was made this week by Interim Artistic Directors Ariel Bock and Jonathan Croy, along with a positive report from Interim Managing Director Stephen D. Ball on the Company's box office successes to date. Shakespeare & Company's season opens on May 22 with The How and The Why, by Sarah Treem.

Shakespeare & Company has announced the 2014 Conservatory production of Romeo & Juliet, directed by Company artists Tori Rhoades and Jason Asprey. The production marks this year's culmination of the Company's three-month professional actor residency, and runs for three shows only in the Tina Packer Playhouse. Performances are tonight, December 12 at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday December 13 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Shakespeare & Company has announced the 2014 Conservatory production of Romeo & Juliet, directed by Company artists Tori Rhoades and Jason Asprey. Shakespeare & Company's Dennis Krausnick, a founder and also Director of Training, steps into the title role of Julius Caesar for a brief run beginning July 15 through August 2. Nigel Gore, who has been playing Caesar since it opened several weeks ago, takes a short-term leave from the show after this weekend's performance on Sunday July 13-Gore will be back in the role Saturday, August 9. For the second consecutive year actors from around the globe have joined Shakespeare & Company's Summer Training Institute through collaboration with Youth Bridge Global. Following in the footsteps of Ilija Pujic a Bosnian actor last year, three young actors from Kilgali, Rwanda, are at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA, to work with their American counterparts in this exciting program.

One tragedy that is synonymous with Shakespeare is JULIUS CAESAR. It is one of the classics that, at some point, is forced upon by high school English teachers. The challenge with producing a famously known Shakespeare piece is keeping it fresh and relevant to today's audience.
