The Neo-Futurists present Ensemble Member Lily Mooney's Empty Threats, directed by Krissy Vanderwarker, in her directorial debut with The Neo-Futurists, playing at 5153 N. Ashland Ave., June 7 - July 14. Previews are Thursday, June 7 - Saturday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m., with opening night Monday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m. The running time is currently 90 minutes. Performances run Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for previews and Thursdays are pay-what-you-can; for the regular run, tickets are $10-25. Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn Lipuma announce the extension of the critically acclaimed and box office hit The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, adapted by Wendy Kesselman and directed Kimberly Senior. The show, which was originally on sale through June 28, has extended in response to overwhelming demand, adding additional weeks of performances at the Theatre's Books on Vernon location, 664 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe.

Strawdog Theatre Company and Artistic Director Hank Boland have announced the first production of their 2014 - 2015 season, Max Frisch's The Arsonists, August 15 - September 27, direction by Matt Hawkins and adapted by Alistair Beaton, at Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N. Broadway St. Preview performances are Friday, Aug. 15 and Today, Aug. 16, Thursday, Aug. 21 and Friday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. Today, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. is the Board Preview. The opening night performance is Monday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays - Todays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. An industry performance is Monday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. Single tickets are currently on sale for $15 for preview performances, $50 for the Board Preview performance that includes appetizers, open bar and a reception immediately following the production, and $28 for the regular run. Jackalope Theatre Company, The Edgewater-based group which cultivates theatre that manifests the adventure deeply rooted in the American mythos, announces the second production in its sixth season. Jackalope's season continues with the world premiere of THE KILLING OF MICHAEL X written by Cory Hinkle and directed by Associate Artistic Director Kaiser Ahmed. It will play today, March 12 - April 13 at Broadway Armory Park, 5917 N. Broadway in Chicago. Tickets will be available starting February 7 through jackalopetheatre.org. The Press Performance is Monday, March 17 at 7:30pm.
