Nashville Opera Presents LA BOHEME At Tennessee PAC 4/17, 18

Nashville Opera presents Giacomo Puccini's La bohème at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18. Curtain for both performances is 8:00 p.m. Tickets range from $17 in the Student Section to $80 in Premiere/Orchestra section, with a limited number of "pay-what-you-can" tickets available directly from the Nashville Opera office. A free discussion of the work takes place one hour prior to curtain in the theatre.

Long considered one of the finest examples of Italian opera, Puccini's beloved tale of bohemian love is set in 1830's Paris. The story follows the antics of a starving painter, Marcello, and his roommate, Rodolpho, an equally destitute poet. A chance knock on the door introduces Rodolpho to Mimi and soon sets the pair on a path to discovering their destinies.

"La bohème is the ultimate date-night of the year," says John Hoomes, director of the production. "Puccini's lush score and gorgeous arias are woven into unforgettable story which elevates La bohème into the highest echelons of opera."

The cast includes soprano Janinah Burnett ("Mimi"), tenor Jonathan Boyd ("Rodolpho"), soprano Caitlyn Lynch ("Musetta"), baritone Corey McKern ("Marcello"), baritone Eric T. Dubin ("Schaunard"), bass Jason Hardy ("Colline"), and bass-baritone Daniel C. Webb ("Alcindoro/Benoit"). The Nashville Opera Ensemble is under the direction of Chorus Master Amy Tate Williams, and the Nashville Opera Orchestra is conducted by Maestro Christopher Larkin.
