Barks, who is best known for her stand-out performance as Eponine in the film adaptation of LES MISERABLES, will portray the inquisitive and charmingly shy Amelie. Her most recent theatre credits include City of Angels, Cabaret, and Oliver! in London's West End, and Chicago at The Hollywood Bowl. Due to an exuberant reception from critics and audiences alike, Berkeley Repertory Theatre has announced that Amelie, A New Musical, will extend for an additional week. Originally scheduled to close on October 4, the world premiere will now play through Sunday, October 11. Following a recent performance, the HAMLET star addressed the audience directly. "I can see cameras, I can see red lights in the auditorium," he told the crowd at the London stage door. "It's mortifying and there's nothing less supportive." Watch his full speech below!

As previously reported, the SHERLOCK star has a full schedule following his run in the play, but now the Daily Mail is reporting that Broadway theatre owners have begun scouting the show (a good sign!), which runs for just 12 weeks.

Tony nominee Jeremy Herrin will direct the new Broadway production as part of Roundabout Theatre Company's 50th anniversary season.
