The Oscar Hammerstein Museum & Theater Education Center, a recognized 501(c)3 announces their inaugural fundraising event at The Player's Club, NYC on Monday, March 13. The event comes on the heels of an agreement allowing Highland Farm in Doylestown, PA, where world-renowned lyricist and humanitarian Oscar Hammerstein lived and worked, to be used for museum activities. It was at Highland Farm that the iconic Rodgers and Hammerstein partnership was formed and where Hammerstein penned lyrics to musicals such as Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, The Sound of Music, and more.

Friends and family of Florence Henderson will come together on Tuesday, February 21st at 1:30 PM at the Music Box Theatre, 239 West 45th Street, New York, NY to celebrate the treasured star.

The producers of IN TRANSIT announced today that Broadway veteran Colin Hanlon (Falsettos, Rent) will assume the role of 'Steven' in Broadway's first a cappella musical, beginning Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street).

There are undoubtedly other productions worthy of merit in 2016 which I did not cover. This list is based only on what I saw and reviewed. (alphabetical listings; Equity, Equity-waiver & Non-Equity productions are mixed) (artists performing outside LA may be included in performance categories) No set, costume, technical awards. I leave that to the bigger awards and to the expertise of those who really know those fields inside out.

2016 has made its exit, we've got our eyes on the year ahead- a year of hope, promise, possibilities, and hopefully, a lot more Broadway.

When the a cappella musical In Transit played Off-Broadway in 2010, most musical theatre fans would identify 'Let It Go' as composer/lyricist David Yazbek's finale song for musical version of THE FULL MONTY.

LIVING FOR TODAY presented a benefit concert entitled Living for Today: 'My First Time' on Sunday, October 30 at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St). The concert was produced and directed by David Alpert (IF/THEN, The Trip to Bountiful, Artistic Director of Headline Programming at BroadwayCon) with music direction by Jason Wetzel (After Midnight).
