POST OFFICE Opens At The New Ohio Theater, Previews 12/1

David Gelles (GRACELAND at Lincoln Center), Anney Giobbe (SUBURBIA) and Eric Hoffmann (WEST SIDE STORY) comprise the cast of POST OFFICE, a new play by David Jenkins (MIDDLEMEN) being given its world-premiere by Human Animals.

Andrea McArdle, Andy Mientus, et al. Win 2011 NYMF Awards

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the winners of the NYMF 2011 Awards for Excellence. Awards will be presented at the Eight Season Awards Gala taking place on Sunday, November 6th at The Hudson Theatre (145 W. 44th Street) beginning at 6:00pm. As previously announced, producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan will also be honored for their work in bringing musical theatre to a worldwide, pop-culture audience.

Danny Scheie, Nancy Robinette to Lead Arena Stage's YOU, NERO

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has just announced the full company of You, Nero by American Voices New Play Institute resident playwright and Pulitzer Prize finalist Amy Freed. This is the second project of a resident playwright to be produced at Arena Stage as part of the three-year residencies through the Institute. Making his Arena Stage debut is director Nicholas Martin (Broadway's Present Laughter, Butley). You, Nero runs November 25, 2011-January 1, 2012 in the Fichandler Stage.

Philadelphia Theatre Company opens its 2011-2012 season with the Philadelphia premiere of John Logan's Tony Award-winning drama Red October 14-November 13 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). Directed by Anders Cato, the two-person cast features Broadway veteran Stephen Rowe and Oscar nominee Haley Joel Osment. The New York Musical Theatre Festival in association with Jeffery & Elizabeth Passero are pleased to announce the production of Lonny Price and Kitt Lavoie's KIKI BABY, composed by Grant Sturiale, orchestrations by Michael Starobin, choreographed by Josh Rhodes, musical direction by Mark Hartman, directed by Lonny Price and Matt Cowart. KIKI BABY will play six performances at the Theatre at St. Clements (423 West 46th Street, between 9TH & 10TH Avenues). Performances begin tonight and continue through Sunday, October 16th.

HABIT OF ART Opens at The Metheny Theatre

The Studio Theatre follows up its 2008 hit production of The History Boys with Alan Bennett's next play, The Habit of Art. Deep in the bowels of London's National Theatre, rehearsals for a new play go apace: Benjamin Britten is having trouble with his latest opera and seeks out his collaborator, poet W. H. Auden, after a twenty-five year separation. Between visits by a rent boy and a biographer-whom Auden briefly mistakes for the rent boy-these aging artists wrestle with their desires, their jealousies, the ephemeral connection between creativity and inspiration, and all the reasons their friendship fell apart.

Arena Stage's A TIME TO KILL Opens 5/22

Broadway's Sebastian Arcelus, who previously appeared onstage in ELF and JERSEY BOYS, is trying on a more serious, and non-singing role in A TIME TO KILL. The play is a Rupert Holmes' adaptation of a novel by John Grisham and will open today, May 22 at Arena Stage in Washington, DC, after previews which began on May 6.
