Houston Ballet Presents JUBILEE OF DANCE: A TRIBUTE TO AMY FOTE Tonight

Tonight, November 30, 2012, Houston Ballet presents its ninth annual Jubilee of Dance: A Tribute to Amy Fote, a special one-night only performance showcasing the talent and artistry of the company dancers in a program of high-energy excerpts from signature works and beloved classics. Houston Chronicle dance critic Molly Glentzer called the 2006 Jubilee of Dance "the event of the season," noting, "The audience gave it a rousing standing ovation." The Jubilee of Dance will be held at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston.

Houston Ballet's WOMEN@ART Set for 9/20-30

From September 20-30, 2012, Houston Ballet presents Women@Art featuring a world premiere by Aszure Barton, the company premiere of Twyla Tharp's The Brahms-Haydn Variations, and the return of Julia Adam's Ketubah, commissioned by Houston Ballet in 2004. Houston Ballet will give six performances of Women@Art at Wortham Theater Center at 510 Texas Avenue in downtown Houston. Philanthropist Kitty King Powell Gives $500,000 to Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera and the Houston Symphony

Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, and the Houston Symphony are delighted to announce that longtime arts supporter and philanthropist Kitty King Powell has honored these organizations with gifts of $500,000 each. Marian P. Harrison and Nancy Powell Moore, daughters of Mrs. Powell, announced the gifts in a meeting with the leadership of the three arts organizations on August 27. The gift to Houston Ballet is intended to help support the new Houston Ballet Center for Dance, which opened in April 2011; monies directed toward the Symphony are to be used for the orchestra's $15 million Sustainability Fund; and the gift to Houston Grand Opera is unrestricted.

Fresh from its appearances at the Chicago Dancing Festival on August 25, Houston Ballet opens its 2012-13 season with artistic director Stanton Welch's signature work Madame Butterfly on a program with his one-act ballet Clear, set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) , running tonight, September 6 - 16.

SPAMALOT to Move to Playhouse Theatre in November

According to published reports, Monty Python's Spamalot, a new musical lovingly ripped off from Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, directed by Christopher Luscombe, will move to the Playhouse Theatre following its current run at the Harold Pinter Theatre. After closing at the Pinter on September 9, the show will open at the Playhouse on November 14, where it will play through April 13.

Howard Panter (Mr West End himself) for The Ambassador Theatre Group presents Monty Python's Spamalot, a new musical lovingly ripped off from Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, directed by Christopher Luscombe. Galloping into the West End for a truly bespoke season at the Harold Pinter Theatre (long pause) tonight, 24 July - Sunday 9 September 2012 (press night Tuesday 31 July). Tickets on sale now.

Jon Culshaw is playing the role of King Arthur in the all-new production of Monty Python's Spamalot at The Harold Pinter Theatre in London when the new version of the show returns to the West End.

Houston Ballet Takes Top Honors at Crystal Awards

Houston Ballet took top honors in two categories in the Crystal Awards, recognizing marketing excellence: Marketing Campaign- Non Profit for the marketing campaign for performances of Houston Ballet's holiday favorite The Nutcracker; and Product or Service Brochure- Two or more for Houston Ballet's 2011-12 season subscription brochures.

Donate a used musical instrument at any concert during February and March, or bring your donations to The Sheldon during normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
