Sarah Vaughan Celebration with The Christian McBride Trio, Dianne Reeves, Lisa Fischer, and Sheila Jordan is set for Saturday, November 19, at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (1 Center Street, Newark NJ).

On a Wednesday night in 1942, Newark teenager Sarah Vaughan went to the Apollo Theater to compete in an amateur singing contest. It was the chance to win $10 and a weeklong engagement performing on the Apollo stage. Instead, Vaughan's win launched her career and forever changed the art of jazz vocal music.

The Kennedy Center announced today the roster of artists who will be participating in Jimmy Heath at 90, a concert honoring the 90th birthday of the legendary saxophonist, composer, educator, and bandleader. Grammy-nominated Jazz recording artist Sacha Boutros returns to Martinis Above Fourth with her popular show, Sacha Sings Streisand. Sacha created the show in 2014 because she always wanted to pay tribute to her longtime idol, Barbra Streisand. Arianna Neikrug is the winner of the 4th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition, co-produced by NJPAC and WBGO and held on Sunday, November 15 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark. The grand winner receives an exclusive recording contact with Concord Records, a $5,000 cash prize and, for the first time, a slot at the 2016 Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, sponsored by TD Bank.
