This April, Carnegie Hall presents the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in three performances led by two outstanding maestros, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos and Daniele Gatti (pictured at right), in its annual visit to Carnegie Hall. The BSO begins its series tonight, April 3 at 8:00 p.m. with Mr. Fruhbeck de Burgos conducting Paul Hindemith's Concert Music for Strings and Brass and Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra. Pianist Garrick Ohlsson joins the orchestra for Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Renowned soprano Renee Fleming completes her Carnegie Hall Perspectives series with two concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, April 26 and May 4. Appearing on Friday, April 26 at 8:00 p.m. with the New York Philharmonic and Music Director Alan Gilbert, Ms. Fleming performs the world premiere of a song cycle The Strand Settings by Swedish composer Anders Hillborg, commissioned by Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic.

To conclude its 140th anniversary season, the Oratorio Society of New York, the city's standard for grand choral performance, presents Benjamin Britten's monumental 1962 work War Requiem at Carnegie Hall on Monday, April 22, 2013, at 8:00 PM.

The Dallas Opera presents Dominick Argento's riveting 1988 opera, THE ASPERN PAPERS, in a brand-new production to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of its TDO world premiere. THE ASPERN PAPERS will open on the evening of Friday, April 12, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House.

The Hartt School has announced that celebrated tenor Robert Brubaker '77 (Bachelor of Music) will be honored with the 2013 Hartt Alumni Award at the annual Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 19. Mr. Brubaker has established himself as a leading tenor in opera companies throughout the United States and Europe, praised for the clarity and power of his voice and the impact of his acting. He has appeared at The Metropolitan Opera, the Salzburg Festival, Opera National de Paris, Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, and other major opera houses around the world. Mr. Brubaker, who will speak at Hartt's graduation ceremony, also will share his experiences and insights with students and other interested members of the University of Hartford community at Hartt's Paranov hour on April 25, from 12:15 PM to 1:05 PM, in Millard Auditorium.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra presents Mendelssohn's 'Italian' Symphony on a program that also features gems from the Italian opera repertoire, including arias by Verdi, Bellini and Donizetti, along with Puccini's Chrysanthemums and Rossini's The Italian Girl in Algiers Overture.
