On May 6th, CAP21 (Collaborative Arts Project 21) will transform its block box theater 'The Shop' into Europe during WWI, the backdrop for Fengar Gael's 'The Usher's Ball'. The play will have a month long run in May, as part of CAP21's Spring/Summer season.

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced details for a second round of major items for their special online Auction in connection with its annual Spring Gala Benefit 'In Quarter Time'. Northlight Theatre continues its 35th Anniversary Season with Hugh Leonard's A Life, directed by Artistic Director BJ Jones and featuring Tony Award winner John Mahoney with an all-Chicago cast. The production runs March 18 - April 25, 2010 at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie.

The Cornelia Street Cafe will be featuring the Jason Rigby Quintet today, April 23. The Sage Quintet is a powerhouse ensemble formed to explore group improvisation with the twists and turns of a two-horn front line mixed with the dynamic sound of the Fender Rhodes electric piano. The band was formed conceptually out of the influences of Miles' 70's electric bands, Ornette Coleman's explorations with Don Cherry and Dewey Redman, and Jack DeJohnette's mid-70's work - all culminating in a modern mixture of grooves, free melodies, psychedelic sounds, and angular horn lines.

As an annual gift to the city, Symphony Space has been presenting its signature music marathons since it opened in 1978. This year Symphony Space's Associate Artistic Director Laura Kaminsky curates a program that includes world and U.S. premieres along with rare works by world-renowned and emerging composers alike from the Soviet Union and Communist-era Eastern Europe.

Jonathan Pryce stars in The Caretaker, which concludes its run April 17. The production is the first West End run of the show since Harold Pinter's death in December last year. The Caretaker began at Trafalgar Studios January 12, and officially opened January 18, 2010.

Up next for The New Group is the new musical The Kid, beginning performances on Friday, April 16. Official Opening Night is set for Monday, May 10. This marks the final production in The New Group's current 2009-2010 season, which featured Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger and most recently, the hit revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke.

This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26.
