Butcher Block Productions presents 'The American Play' by Suzan-Lori Parks. The show is now playing thru April 3 at the Las Vegas Little Theatre Studio, 3890 Schiff Dr.

The professional, award-winning Marin Shakespeare Company features an outdoor, summer festival of three plays presented under the summer stars in its outdoor venue, Dominican University's Forest Meadows Amphitheatre in San Rafael, Calif.

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) and Vineyard Theatre (Artistic Director, Douglas Aibel; Executive Director, Jennifer Garvey-Blackwell) have announced complete casting for their co-production of the New York premiere of the new musical THE BURNT PART BOYS by Mariana Elder (book), Chris Miller (music) and Nathan Tysen (lyrics).

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, is proud to announce four additional productions for its 2010/2011 40th Anniversary Season. The three World Premieres and one New York premiere join the previously-announced New York premiere of Edward Albee's ME, MYSELF & I.

Glorious! is based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the legendary New York heiress and socialite who wanted to be a great operatic diva despite having one of the worst singing voices in history.

Two local arts organizations have come together to produce the world premiere of a new music drama inspired by and containing the songs of Pittsburgh's best-loved musical legend.

Up next for The New Group is the new musical The Kid, beginning performances on Friday, April 16. Official Opening Night is set for Monday, May 10. This marks the final production in The New Group's current 2009-2010 season, which featured Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger and most recently, the hit revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke.

In May 1977 three artists--Robin Hirsch, a writer and director; Charles McKenna, an actor; and Raphaela Pivetta, a visual artist--stumbled across a tiny storefront on Cornelia Street in the heart of Greenwich Village and thought it the perfect place to open a café.

Cornelia Street Cafe will host musician Phil Fried on Monday, March 22nd. Located between West 4th and Bleeker Streets, Cornelia Street Cafe was from the beginning an artists' café. Within a month there were poetry readings and music performances; and then a tiny play written for the café; and fiction writers; and Eskimo poetry; and puppeteers; and a living portrait of James Joyce; and the Four Quartets and the entire Iliad; and mime shows on the street outside the café; and comedians; and fairy tales and storytellers and Punch and Judy shows.

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) will end its production of the World Premiere of CLYBOURNE PARK, a new play by Bruce Norris on March 21st.

59E59 Theaters will close its production of Chicago's Victory Gardens Theater's CONVICTION, by Oren Neeman, adapted by Ami Dayan and Mark Williams and directed by Jeremy Cole. CONVICTION began performances on February 16 and will end its run on March 21st.

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) will hold its annual Spring Gala Benefit on Monday evening, May 3rd at Guastavino's (409 East 59th Street).

Northlight Theatre continues its 35th Anniversary Season with Hugh Leonard's A Life, directed by Artistic Director BJ Jones and featuring Tony Award winner John Mahoney with an all-Chicago cast. The production runs March 18 - April 25, 2010 at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie.
