BWW Review: THE GIRLS, Phoenix Theatre

Tim Firth can't keep away from the Calendar Girls. Following the 2003 film and 2008 play, he's back again adapting the real-life story of Yorkshire WI heroines stripping off for a charity calendar after one of their number loses her husband to cancer - this time in a musical adaptation with Gary Barlow.

The West End premiere follows sold-out runs at the Grand Theatre Leeds and the Lowry Salford late 2015/early 2016. In the West End, the producers have made a commitment to there being no 'premium-rated' seats, no booking fees and reduced price previews.

Gary Barlow and Tim Firth's THE GIRLS Triumphs at WhatsOnStage Awards

Gary Barlow and Tim Firth triumphed tonight, Sunday 19 February 2017, ahead of the opening of their musical THE GIRLS in London's West End on Tuesday 21 February. At an awards ceremony at the Prince of Wales Theatre, they won the prestigious WhatsOnStage Award for Best Regional Production. Gary and Tim and the original Calendar Girls were given a rapturous reception from an audience made up of stars from all the West End shows after Gary, Tim and Joanna Riding performed Scarborough, a song from their musical.

MAMMA MIA! to Celebrate 15th Anniversary in London on 6 April

On Sunday 6 April, the global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! will celebrate its 15th birthday in London. Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, who have rarely performed together since ABBA disbanded in 1982, will join the cast of MAMMA MIA! in a musical finale at this year's Olivier Awards as part of the birthday celebrations. This historic performance will be televised for the ITV highlights show, which will be broadcast at 22:15 on Sunday 13 April. MAMMA MIA! has also extended its booking period to 25 April 2015.

West End's MAMMA MIA! Announces New 'Early Bird Pricing' Program

The global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! at London's Novello Theatre has announced a new ticketing scheme to reward early bookers as the show prepares for its 15th birthday celebrations in London in April 2014. The Early Bird pricing will take effect immediately on tickets purchased for Monday to Thursday performances on or after Monday 24 February 2014. Anyone booking four months or more in advance of the performance they are attending will be able to purchase top price tickets for £44, a saving of £20 on the regular top price. However, customers can only book through Delfont Mackintosh Theatres, either online, in person at the theatre, or by calling the Novello Theatre box office.
