Bob Saget to Serve as Roastmaster for The District of Comedy Roast of James Carville at Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center today announced Bob Saget as Roastmaster in The District of Comedy Roast of James Carville to be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall. Regarding his role in the event, Saget stated "I cannot tell you how excited I am to be the host of the James Carville roast. I am equally excited to find out who he is." Saget takes over as Roastmaster for Lewis Black, who will no longer be able to participate in the event due to unforeseen changes in his professional schedule.
Kennedy Center Adds to District of Comedy Festival

From June 22-25, the Kennedy Center presents its first District of Comedy Festival, bringing together acclaimed stars and rising acts for an all-laughs takeover of the nation's center for the performing arts. The festival, an expansion of Capital One's Comedy at the Kennedy Center sponsorship, features stand-up shows, a musical comedy revue, a jazz and comedy mashup, and a performance for children and families in spaces across the Center. The District of Comedy Festival also coincides with the world premiere of a new collaboration with Chicago's The Second City, which will run for six weeks in the Theater Lab. Tickets for the newly announced performances go on sale to Kennedy Center Members on Monday, April 4, 2016 and to the general public on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research raised $3.6 million and counting for blood cancer research at its annual fundraiser, the Angel Ball, Monday night at Cipriani Wall Street. This black-tie benefit, hosted by Grammy-nominated songwriter Denise Rich and her daughters Daniella Rich and Ilona Rich Schachter, honored the work of Heidi Klum; Amy and Brian France, Chairman and CEO of NASCAR, Founders, The Luke and Meadow Foundation; Mary Kitchen and Jon Orszag, Co-Founder of Compass Lexecon, Co-Directors of The Orszag Foundation. Pop rock sensation OneRepublic, legendary vocalist Patti LaBelle and Tony and Grammy Award-winner Billy Porter performed throughout the evening.

The New York Times reports that SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE star Bill Hader will be exiting the show after this Saturday's season finale. The comic has appeared on the NBC sketch comedy for the past eight seasons.
