The Cat in the Hat now playing at the Coterie Theatre in Crown Center is a purr-fect entertainment package for the whole family. Heidi Van directs the Coterie production based on the book by Dr. Seuss. Katie Mitchell adapted and directed the original production by the National Theatre of Great Britain. Mitchell's adaption maintains the books fun simplicity and famous imagery, recreating the story page-by-page. A member of the audience Andrew Dearinger, a fifth grader, stated he was impressed with the interaction of the characters and the audience and thought it made the show more meaningful.

The holiday season soars into Kansas City on the nose of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical. The holiday treat opened on Friday November 7 at the Coterie Theatre in Crown Center. Jeff Church directs the musical based on the stop-motion animated television special, which starred the voice of Burl Ives. Timothy Splain provides arrangements and orchestrations with script adaptation by Robert Penola.

The world premiere of the Theatre for Young Audiences version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang opened Friday June 20 at The Coterie Theatre in Crown Center. Ian Fleming the creator of the legendary James Bond spy novels wrote the novel that Roald Dahl adapted. Dahl's adaption became the hit musical MGM motion picture.

Known for producing high-quality shows for their Mainstage and the Jerome Stage, the Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City, MO. raised the bar on opening night Saturday March 8 of Other Desert Cities by Robin Baitz. The Broadway play received a 2012 Tony Award Nomination for Best Play and if the Tony's were given in Kansas City there would need to be two for best actor, three for best actress, one for best direction, and one for best production of a drama.
