Award winning playwright Terry Johnson imagines a 1950's hotel room in which The Scientist and The Actress (who look suspiciously like Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe) meet and discuss the universe, guilt, regret, the meaning of life. They are interrupted by two Joes: The Senator and The Ballplayer (looking an awful lot like McCarthy and DiMaggio), who bring with them the menace and mayhem of the outside world.
A pair of radical feminist ex-strippers scour the USA on a murderous rampage against right-wing pro-life conservatives, documenting their exploits online in explicit detail. Meanwhile, a slacker screenwriter named Owen tries to bang out his magnum opus in a hotel room as his best friend holds forth on rape and other manly enterprises. Paul Angelo directs the Portland Premiere of this surreal, darkly comic play that The New Yorker describes as "variously a rant, a riff, a rumble - about our notions of naturalism, objectification, perversity, and beauty. T. Schreiber Theatre, under the direction of Terry Schreiber and Peter Jensen, celebrates its 48th season with an eclectic mix of established plays and new works. The season opens with the New York revival of Stephen Adly Guirgis play The Motherf**ker with the Hat directed by Peter Jensen, which premiered on Broadway in 2011 and was nominated for 6 Tony awards. The season also includes Schreiber Shorts, an Evening Of One-Act Plays to feature 8 new works. Founder Terry Schreiber will direct the spring production, Loose Ends, the well known drama by Michael Weller. The season will culminate with the New Works Project, directed by Jake Turner, which will showcase a workshop production of one full length play. The season will be produced in full by Halle Morse, T. Schreiber's recently appointed Producing Director.
'Natural Life' by Eduardo Ivan Lopez tells the tale of a death row inmate convicted of murder. But unlike the heroes of 'The Exonerated,' she is guilty of the crime. The play is inspired by a true incident in the 1980's. T. Schreiber Theatre, 151 West 26th Street, will present the play's world premiere March 2 to April 2, directed by Jake Turner.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards. Many of the major categories were announced this morning on 'CBS News' 'The Early Show,' by Bree Williamson (Jessica Brennan on 'One Life to Live,' ABC) and Travis Stork ('The Doctors,' Syndicated) including the naming of the Lifetime Achievement honoree, Agnes Nixon, the grand dame of Daytime serial drama.
