Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation brings ukulele "wunderkind" Jake Shimabukuro to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts stage on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 8pm.
Performances by comedienne Lily Tomlin, country music star Clint Black, and popular dance troupe Pilobolus are among the many presentations on tap at Pepperdine University Center for the Arts during its 2012-2013 season.
Ravinia announces a mix of artist debuts and festival favorites. In addition to the permanent screens flanking the pavilion stage, the festival will also install a temporary large screen on the north lawn for all pavilion performances from June 25 through July 1, in addition to the first live videocast ever from inside the Martin Theatre for the June 26 performance by Zukerman ChamberPlayers.

Last night, Jim Caruso's Cast Party was once again packed with extraordinary talent from all segments of the entertainment scene! Ukulele sensation Jake Shimabukuro dazzled the audience after his in-store appearance in The Apple Store, Birdland regular Gabrielle Stravelli and legendary jazzer Lodi Carr both offered swinging tunes, Giles Terera (from the West End's Avenue Q and The Rat Pack: Live At The Sands) sang from the heart, and theater composer Micah Young debuted a new song performed by singers Matt Leisy and Whitney Basher, both currently in The Fantastiks off-Broadway.
Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation's Fall 2012 Season will feature an array of artists continuing the POW! Foundation's eclectic programming. The Season begins in September with O Berkley, Where Hart Thou? featuring a line-up of San Diego folk, country and bluegrass musicians recreating the Academy Award-winning soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou? Ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro takes the stage in October followed by an encore performance from Natalie MacMaster. The Fall 2012 offerings come to a conclusion with Vicki Lawrence: A Two Woman Show in December. Four more shows will be offered in the 2013 Professional Performance Season.
Ravinia Festival President and CEO Welz Kauffman announced the festival's 2012 season, which offers more than 100 separate events exemplifying most musical genres, including the 77th residency of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The summer boasts a variety of music's legends from Philip Glass to James Taylor, along with 43 debuts, including Glee and Wicked star Idina Menzel, reggae master Jimmy Cliff, classic rocker Santana, Grammy-and-Oscar sensation Esperanza Spalding, and Musical America's "conductor of the year" Jaap van Zweden. Ravinia Music Director James Conlon celebrates the 35th anniversary of his own festival debut as his contract is extended through 2014.

For the first time, Jim Caruso's Cast Party, the extreme open mic, took to the high seas. The weekly event that has been running at Birdland for the past eight years was booked on the "Dave Koz & Friends" jazz cruise to Alaska, and Cast Party At Sea became the after-hours place to sing and be seen! Joining Caruso and musical director/accompanist Billy Stritch on the beautiful Rhapsody Of The Seas were jazz and R&B superstars Chris Botti, Jeffrey Osborne, Sheila E., Kirk Whalum, David Benoit, Jake Shimabukuro, Monica Mancini, Spencer Day, and the host-with-the-most, sax-man Dave Koz.
