BWW Review: WINTER PEOPLE: Burn It Down
by Nancy Grossman - Dec 10, 2018

Playwright Laura Neill is an angry person who channels her fiery passion onto the page and, ultimately, onto the stage. In WINTER PEOPLE, her newest work produced by Boston Playwrights' Theatre and Boston University College of Arts School of Theatre, she takes up the mantle for the underserved families who are the year-round residents of the Hamptons, the exclusive Long Island enclave used by the rich and famous as a summer playground. Having grown up in an L.I. summer town herself, Neill knows the territory and endeavors to tell the stories of five communities that represent the island's diversity.

BWW Review: LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES: Bring on the Men
by Nancy Grossman - Jun 5, 2018

Artistic Director Lee Mikeska Gardner embraces the mission of The Nora Theatre Company to "promote the feminine voice" with an all-male production of LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES, Christopher Hampton's 1985 adaptation from the novel by Choderlos de Laclos. Perhaps best known from the 1988 film DANGEROUS LIAISONS, which starred Glenn Close, John Malkovich, and Michelle Pfeiffer, the pre-French revolution era story is decadent, delicious, overflowing with sexual intrigue, and populated with characters who mostly get what they deserve. In Gardner's retelling, the audience gets what it deserves, a thoroughly entertaining, albeit mildly risque, evening at the theater.

BWW Reviews: It's a Winter Wonderland at Underground Railway Theater's SILA
by Alex Lonati - May 4, 2014

Who says arts and academia cannot work hand in hand? Isn't theatre one of the best ways to reach large groups of people and enact change? So why not teach lessons about issues of science and environmental awareness within a theatrical piece?
