Victory Gardens to Stage World Premiere of Marcus Gardley's A WONDER IN MY SOUL

Victory Gardens Theater continues its season with the World Premiere of A Wonder In My Soul, written by ensemble playwright Marcus Gardley and directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. A Wonder In My Soul runs February 10 - March 12, 2017, with the press performance today, February 17, 2017, at 7:30 pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

Wool Studio Theater presents INTIMATE APPAREL

New York, 1905, Esther, a black seamstress, lives in a boarding house where she sews intimate apparel for clients ranging from wealthy white patrons to prostitutes. As the other denizens of the boarding house marry and move away, Esther remains, lonely and longing. Through a mutual acquaintance, she begins to receive beautiful letters from a lonesome Caribbean man working on the Panama Canal.

San Diego Jewish Film Festival Launches 27th Season

The 27th Annual San Diego Jewish Film Festival presented by the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, will run February 8-19, 2017.  The 12-day Festival is the largest Jewish cultural event in San Diego and draws over 17,000 attendees annually and 97 film screenings. The Festival features San Diego film premieres, international guest artists and filmmakers local and international. Screenings will be shown at 5 locations.

WNO Presents Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally's DEAD MAN WALKING and Terence Blanchard and Michael Cristofer's CHAMPION

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2016-2017 season with the company premieres of two modern American masterworks of opera: Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally's Dead Man Walking, February 25-March 11, 2017 in the Opera House, and Terence Blanchard and Michael Cristofer's Champion, March 4- 18, 2017 in the Opera House. Both operas explore the theme of social justice which is often associated with John F. Kennedy and are presented as part of JFKC, the Kennedy Center's season-long celebration of President Kennedy's centennial. Using many of the same designers and scenic elements, the directors of each opera have worked collaboratively to create two distinct worlds in each new production to showcase the issues of Justice, Courage, and Freedom at the heart of these two compelling stories. An additional special event will continue the exploration of these themes: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will headline Justice at the Opera on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in the Opera House.

National Gallery of Jamaica Hosts the Jamaica Biennial 2017

Open to the public from Tuesday, February 28 to Sunday, May 28, 2017, the 2017 Jamaica Biennial is organized by the National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ), the largest and oldest public art museum in the Anglophone Caribbean.

WICKED Returns to Manila, Praises Filipino Audiences

Hailed as 'one of the most popular West End musicals ever' by the London Evening Standard, Stephen Schwartz's WICKED returns to Manila after a phenomenal run of the Australasian production three years ago. According to James Cundall, producer and chief executive of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, he brought back WICKED as a fulfillment of a promise he gave to Filipino audiences a few years back. He recalled that during the last night of the show at the main theatre of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the audiences serenaded the cast with songs as a goodbye gift and a treat to a great and fantastic show. 'We've never seen such a loving audience than here in the Philippines,' said Cundall.

BWW Review: MURDER ON THE NILE at Oyster Mill Playhouse

Agatha Christie is widely known as one of the most successful authors across the globe. Her theatrical works, including THE MOUSETRAP, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, and LOVE FROM A STRANGER have been performed countless times since their publication and continue to be loved by all audiences today. MURDER ON THE NILE as put on by Oyster Mill Playhouse in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, is no exception to Christie's suspenseful repertoire. It is the tale of passengers from many different walks of life thrown into close quarters on a paddle steamer down the Nile River, set adrift towards drama and misfortune.

ANNIE to Play Kalamazoo's Miller Auditorium

Miller Auditorium is proud to announce that the U.S. National Tour of ANNIE, now in its third smash year, will play Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. on the campus of Western Michigan University.   Directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin for the 19th time, this production of ANNIE is a brand new incarnation of the iconic Tony Award®-winning original.
