The New York Philharmonic concludes Mahler's New York: A Digital Festival with two broadcasts this week on Facebook and YouTube Premieres. Tonight (Monday, April 27) at 7:30 p.m. EDT, the Philharmonic will broadcast Mahler's Symphony No. 7 with former Music Director Alan Gilbert conducting the Orchestra alongside musicians from around the world in A Concert for Unity (2017); it will be available on-demand afterward.

Tonight (Thursday, April 9) at 7:30 p.m. EDT, the Philharmonic will rebroadcast the 1994 Live From Lincoln Center episode featuring an all-Beethoven program conducted by then Music Director Kurt Masur: the First Piano Concerto with Emanuel Ax, Fifth Symphony, and Leonore Overture No. 3.

The production of Virgil Thomson's The Mother of Us All - co-presented by the New York Philharmonic, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Juilliard School in February 2020 - will have its world premiere screening tomorrow (Friday, April 3).

St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble Celebrates Beethoven With Pianist Paavali Jumppanen

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) 2019-20 Chamber Music Series resumes in March when pianist Paavali Jumppanen joins St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble for the first of two all-Beethoven programs celebrating the composer's 250th birthday. Beethoven's Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat Major and Ferdinand Ries's arrangement of the a?oeEroicaa?? Symphony for piano quartet are the featured works. A noted Beethoven expert, Jumppanen has recorded many of Beethoven's works for piano and has written extensively about the composer. Performances take place on March 24, Merkin Concert Hall; March 25, The Morgan Library & Museum; and March 29, Brooklyn Museum.

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 18th annual summer residency there, performing six orchestral concerts July 22a?"29, 2020. Jaap van Zweden will return to Vail as Philharmonic Music Director, conducting four concerts featuring works by Wagner, Barber, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Mahler, Beethoven, and Steve Reich. Bramwell Tovey will return to Vail with the Philharmonic to lead two concerts: an evening of music by Stephen Sondheim and Bernstein, and a program of works by Tchaikovsky and Berlioz. The soloists include violinist Gil Shaham, pianists Beatrice Rana (in her Philharmonic and Bravo! Vail debuts) and Conrad Tao, vocalist Kelli O'Hara, soprano Joélle Harvey, and mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke. The New York Philharmonic has performed at Bravo! Vail each summer since 2003.

American soprano Renée Fleming, one of the most beloved and celebrated singers of our time, is donating her personal archives to Juilliard, her alma mater. The announcement was made by Juilliard President Damian Woetzel at the beginning of Fleming's Vocal Arts master class, held on February 19 in Juilliard's Paul Hall. The master class featured singers from Juilliard's Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts and was part of her February residency at the school.

Tickets are now available for Phil the Hall, the New York Philharmonic's second annual $5 concert conducted by Music Director Jaap van Zweden, Friday, April 3, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. The concert will feature Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man; Bernstein's Times Square: 1944, from Three Dance Episodes from On the Town; a movement from Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5; Nina C. Young's Tread softly, one of 19 new works by women the Philharmonic commissioned as part of Project 19, celebrating the centennial of the 19th Amendment; 13-year-old New York Philharmonic Very Young Composer Paloma Alonso; and several works selected by the audience.
The HK Phil Postpones Japan And Korea Tour

In view of current developments related to the coronavirus outbreak, along with discussions with our tour presenters, performing venues and related partners, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra's (HK Phil) tour to Japan and Korea has been postponed to a later time of the year. The tour was originally scheduled for 5 March to 13 March 2020 in Osaka Symphony Hall, Tokyo Suntory Hall, Deajeon Arts Center, Seoul Arts Center, Chuncheon Culture & Art Center, and Gwangju Culture & Art Center. New dates for the tour will be announced on relevant performing venues' websites shortly.
