Young Organist Chelsea Chen to Perform Free Recital in Des Plaines

Award-winning young international concert organist and composer Chelsea Chen will perform a diverse, centuries-spanning program that includes her signature composition, 'Taiwanese Suite,' and the Chicago debut of her 'Chorale-Prelude on 'Bethold' at a free concert presented by the Chicago chapter of the American Guild of Organists at 7:30 p.m. today, February 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 675 East Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, Ill.

Kent Tritle Announces Spring 2017 Season

To launch his 2016-17 season, Kent Tritle made his conducting debut in Asia with a program of Beethoven and Bellini at South Korea's Great Mountains Music Festival and School in August, and in November led the New York premiere at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine of the recently deceased Einojuhani Rautavaara's Vigilia. Opera News, praising Tritle's “profoundly musical direction,” said, “Truly, this was a choral concert for the ages. … For those of us who love choral music, and for those of us who particularly love choral music connected to the Eastern Orthodox tradition, this concert was possibly the finest event of the 2016-17 season.”

Alan Gilbert Leads New York Philharmonic Europe Spring 2017 Tour

Orchestra of St. Luke's Announces 2017 Baroque Chamber Music Series

St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble is adding a two-program Baroque Series to its winter and spring 2017 season. These concerts will be presented at Brooklyn Museum and The Church of St. Luke in the Fields, the acoustically and architecturally notable Greenwich Village church where St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble first performed in 1974 and from which the Ensemble derives its name.

Canada's Honens Piano Announces Rules For 2018 Competition

Calgary-based Honens today announced details of its 2018 Piano Competition.  Pianists of all nationalities, aged 20 to 30 on August 30, 2018, with the exception of past Honens Laureates and professionally managed artists, may apply starting February 1, 2017.  The application deadline is October 31, 2017.  The Competition's Quarterfinals take place in Berlin and New York in March 2018.  Semifinals and Finals take place in Calgary from August 30 to September 8, 2018.
