PATH New Music To Debut SIMULACRUM, Chamber Opera

PATH New Music Theater, the upstart artist collective of composers, musicians, choreographers, and visual artists, proudly announces their debut work for the stage, Simulacrum, co-presented by the 3LD Art & Technology Center on June 8th, 9th, and 10th. A radically ambitious combination of opera, dance, and stunning visual technology, the work combines music of the five composers of PATH and one guest composer with three singers, six dancers, vivid projections, and interactive wearable technology. Based on the captivating Marianna Staroselsky original play Loved for Parts, the opera examines the fraught relationship between man and machine.

45th Annual BACH WEEK Festival To Open This Week In Evanston

The 45th annual Bach Week Festival, with concerts April 27 and 29 in Evanston, Ill., and May 4 in Chicago, will feature new twists on presenting music by the event's namesake, German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

Les Bostonades Announce Concert

Les Bostonades welcomes its artistic advisor, internationally acclaimed harpsichordist Hank Knox, to join the ensemble for its season finale on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at Gordon Chapel, Old South Church, 645 Boylston St., Boston, MA. The program features Knox as concerto soloist and conductor for a program of works by J.S. Bach and the lesser known Johann Bernhard Bach (a second cousin of J.S. Bach).

Ars Lyrica Houston Announces 2018/19 Season: OUT OF THE BOX

Ars Lyrica Houston, the Grammy-nominated early music ensemble, announces its 2018/19 season: Out of the Box: Celebrating Ambition & Innovation. Ars Lyrica Houston takes on its first full-length Baroque opera with Handel's Agrippina plus the complete "Brandenburg" Concertos by J. S. Bach. Artistic Director Matthew Dirst has created a program "that highlights composers and works that are exceptional, definitive, unusual, even infamous." With Bach's six concertos appearing in pairs throughout the season, individual programs explore distinct ways of thinking about the general theme, from unexpected musical gifts to singular collections and composers.

Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo to Come to Long Island Guitar Festival

The acclaimed Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will appear at the 26th annual Long Island Guitar Festival on April 14 at 8:00PM.   The program, 40th Anniversary Retrospective includes works by Manuel de Falla, Francesco Canova da Milano, Joaquin Rodrigo, Gioacchino Rossini, Paul Moravec, Isaac Albeniz, J. S. Bach and Philipp Nicolai. The concert will take place at Hillwood Cinema at Hillwood Commons, Long Island University Post, Brookville, NY. The duo will present a Master Class on Sunday, April 15 at the Fine Arts Center, LIU Post.  Concert tickets are $25.00 General; Seniors/students/members of guitar societies (with ID) $20.00 & $10.00.

BWW Review: THE SAN DIEGO SYMPHONY CONDUCTED BY EDO DE WAART at the Jacobs Music Center

Edo de Waart has become a welcome repeat guest-conductor for the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. His no nonsense, experience-based authority at the podium appears to have won the respect of players, Symphony management-and certainly, San Diego audiences. Friday's finale brought an immediate standing ovation and sustained shouting and applause throughout an unusual four curtain calls. Since standing Os have become almost perfunctory, it was a pleasure to participate in one that was actually deserved.
