The performances by Roman and her dancers/collaborators follows an on site four month company residency. In this latest architectural exploration, LR&D move through the multileveled expanse of the CIVICCORPS Job Training Center. The rhythmic form of dancers' bodies vibrate with the structural elements of the building, utilizing stairs, railings, ladders, hallways, alcoves, and rooftops. The performance unfolds amidst a sonic environment of music composed and performed live by the band WaterSaw. 'We create a dance that reflects the function of its architectural setting. Dancers interact with the architecture and create a vocabulary unique to the building...' remarks Roman. A recipient of the 2013 ISADORA DUNCAN AWARD for Outstanding Choreography, Lizz Roman's unique choreographic vision has established her as one of SF's legendary site-specific choreographers.

San Francisco, CA, August 4, 2015 – Artistic Director and choreographer Charles Anderson's award-winning Company C Contemporary Ballet will present the world premiere of his new, evening-length story ballet, Arcane: A Tale of All Hallows' Eve in seven performances October 24-31 at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco. The production features an original story and choreography by Anderson, a commissioned musical score by Mike Krisukas of Zen for Primates, steam punk-inspired set and lighting designs by Patrick Toebe and the costumes by Laura Hazlet and will be performed by a company of 16 dancers, 9 musicians and narrator. Stella Abrera and Misty Copeland have been promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre and Skylar Brandt, Thomas Forster, Arron Scott and Cassandra Trenary have been promoted to Soloist effective August 1, 2015. In addition, Maria Kochetkova, a principal dancer with San Francisco Ballet and Alban Lendorf, a principal dancer with Royal Danish Ballet will join the Company as Principal Dancers and Jeffrey Cirio, a principal dancer with Boston Ballet, will join ABT as a Soloist, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

This fall Jo Kreiter's Flyaway Productions unveils the third and final installment in its trilogy about urban poverty that began in 2012 with the award-winning Niagara Falling. Titled Needles to Thread: Dancing Along These Lines in Continuum Alley, Kreiter's newest site-specific aerial dance takes on the issue of wage security for women through the story of San Francisco's garment workers past and present.
