Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke announced to a sold out open working rehearsal audience that there were only 4 tickets left for tonights New York Pops It's Christmas Time In The City Concert. Stephanie J. Block, Brian d'Arcy James, and Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA are featured along with The New York Pops Orchestra. Over 5,000 New Yorkers will be able to attend the concerts on December 18th & 19th at Carnegie Hall.

Classical Pianist Katya Grineva to Perform Holiday Concert at Carnegie Hall, 12/26

Celebrating her 15th solo appearance at Carnegie Hall, classical pianist Katya Grineva presents an evening of holiday music and virtuoso romantic masterpieces for one night only, Saturday, December 26th at 8:00 p.m. The Russian native, whose dream it was to one day play at the iconic venue, is the first woman to perform as a soloist at Carnegie this many times. Known for her deep connetion to the Romantics, Katya mixes staples by Mozart and Chopin with various seasonal chestnuts. Performing works from her latest album A Classical Holiday, Katya showcases new arrangements of Christmas classics including Silent Night, Sleigh Ride, and My Favorite Things as well as traditional carols and pieces from The Nutcracker. (See below for complete program.)

New York Pops, New York String Orchestra to Bring the Holidays to Carnegie Hall This December

Carnegie Hall celebrates the holiday season with a variety of special programs this December. On Friday, December 18 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 19 at 8:00 p.m., Tony Award nominees Stephanie J. Block (Wicked) and Brian d'Arcy James (Shrek The Musical and Something Rotten!) help to make the season bright with a program of holiday favorites performed by The New York Pops and Music Director Steven Reineke with Essential Voices USA.

This season the Chicago Philharmonic explores turning points in the lives and careers of major composers. Johannes Brahms, a young genius striving to be counted with Beethoven and Mozart, begin his work with major orchestral writing with his Piano Concerto No. 1.

Carnegie Hall to Present Yefim Bronfman in Three Concerts This Season

Acclaimed pianist Yefim Bronfman returns to Carnegie Hall this season to perform Prokofiev's complete piano sonatas. The nine sonatas will be divided over three concerts with numbers 1-4 presented during the first performance on Friday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. Spanning the composer's early years, the first four sonatas reflect Prokofiev's coming of age as he began to cultivate and define his own musical language. For the second concert, on Wednesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall, violinist Guy Braunstein joins Mr. Bronfman for a performance of Prokofiev's Violin Sonatas Nos. 1 and 2, two pieces of very contrasting character. Mr. Bronfman completes the program with Piano Sonatas Nos. 5 and 9. Mr. Bronfman returns for his final all-Prokofiev concert of the season on Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. He concludes the cycle with sonatas 6-8, often referred to as the "War Sonatas" because of their reflection of the composer's reaction to World War II.
