Producing Artistic Director Ethan Paulini has announced Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks as the 2nd show in the 2019 54th Season. This funny and touching Broadway hit by Richard Alfieri, Six Dance Lessons joins the rotating repertory on July 10. This title joins the already announced Irving Berlin's White Christmas, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, The Drowsy Chaperone, Bright Star, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Sister Act. Cast, creative team and a full schedule will be announced shortly. Season 54 officially opens on July 6 with the annual Bubble and Squeak. Performances continue for 8 weeks through August 31 culminating in audience favorite Best Of. Other programming including Patchwork Players, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 210th season with the uproarious Ken Ludwig's A COMEDY OF TENORS. Herb Gardner, who plays both trombone and piano, is assembling a stellar group of musicians from the New York, New Jersey, and New England areas including: Fred Vigorito on cornet, Joe Licari on clarinet, James Chirilloon guitar, Mike Weatherly on bass and Robbie Scott on drums. Daughters Abbie and Sarah Gardner will be handling the vocals and guitar.
The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced that Mickey Thomas, the lead singer of Starship stars as Dennis in its sensational new production of Rock of Ages. Rock of Ages is the '80s rock ballad blast that features the music of Styx, Joan Jett, Twisted Sister, and more. With Mickey Thomas as lead vocalist, Starship produced hits including 'We Built This City' (which appears in the production), 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now,' and 'Sara.'
