Dr. Sacks is the author of 'To See or Not to See,' which inspired Mr. Friel to write his three-character play about a blind woman who undergoes an operation to try to restore her sight. He is also the author of 'Awakenings' and 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.'
