Robert Lepage Makes MET Debut With 'La Damnation de Faust' Starting 11/7

Noted director Robert Lepage makes his Met debut with a technologically innovative new production of Hector Berlioz's masterpiece, La Damnation de Faust, opening on November 7. Music Director James Levine will conduct the first staging of the work at the Met since 1906, with Marcello Giordani in the title role, Susan Graham as Marguerite, and John Relyea as Méphistophélès.

William Wolf, the noted critic, author, educator and lecturer, will launch the fall season of William Wolf Movie Previews, his popular course offering pre-release private screenings and critical discussions of new feature films, on Saturday, October 18, 2008, under the auspices of New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Department of Design, Digital Arts and Film.

According to Variety UK stage star Hannah Waddingham, who has played the Lady of the Lake in 'Monty Python's Spamalot' in London and most recently on Broadway, will play Desiree in Trevor Nunn's upcoming Menier Chocolate Factory revival of 'A Little Night Music.' The production plays Nov. 22 to Mar. 8 with a Dec. 3 opening.

Blanchett to Star in BAM and Kennedy Center's 'Streetcar'

Sydney Theatre Company's forthcoming production of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, directed by Liv Ullmann, is to tour to the United States. The production which will play at Sydney Theatre from 1 September to 10 October 2009, featuring STC Co-Artistic Director Cate Blanchett as Blanche DuBois, will run at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington from 29 October to 21 November 2009 and Brooklyn Academy Of Music (BAM), New York from 27 November to 20 December 2009.

Directed by Mark Lamos, whose revival of Shakespeare's Cymbeline recently completed a limited Broadway run, A Little Night Music features an award-winning cast led by stage and screen veterans Polly Bergen, Stephen Bogardus, Barbara Walsh, and Maxwell Caulfield.
