Goodman Theatre Sets Cast for World Premiere of OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR By Charles Smith

The cast and creative team is complete for Objects in the Mirror, a Goodman Theatre-commissioned world premiere by Charles Smith. Directed by Resident Director Chuck Smith, Objects in the Mirror is inspired by the playwright's real-life friendship with a Liberian refugee-turned-actor, Shedrick Yarkpai-portrayed by Daniel Kyri, in his Goodman debut. The production was developed through the 2015 New Stages festival and features a 5-member cast who brings to life the gripping account of one Liberian refugee's attempts to find peace by exposing a potentially dangerous lifelong secret. Objects in the Mirror appears April 29 through June 4 (opening night is May 8) in the Albert Theatre. Tickets ($20-$75; subject to change) are now on sale and available at GoodmanTheatre.org/Objects, the box office (170 N. Dearborn) or by phone at 312.443.3800.

National New Play Network to Premiere 4 Plays at 15 Theaters This Year

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces four Rolling World Premieres: Halftime with Don by Ken Weitzman, Doublewide by Stephen Spotswood, The Arsonists by Jacqueline Goldfinger, and Building the Wall by Robert Schenkkan. The four plays will receive a total of 15 NNPN RWP productions, with each play seeing at least three distinct productions in a discrete 12-month period.

Asolo Rep Presents Inside Asolo Rep: BORN YESTERDAY and THE LITTLE FOXES on Today

Asolo Rep will host Inside Asolo Rep: BORN YESTERDAY and THE LITTLE FOXES today, February 23 at 11am, with refreshments at 10am. This special behind-the-scenes panel will spotlight Asolo Rep's productions of Garson Kanin's classic American comedy BORN YESTERDAY (February 8 - April 15) and Lillian Hellman's gripping drama THE LITTLE FOXES  (March 15 - April 15).  The panel will feature BORN YESTERDAY director Peter Amster, THE LITTLE FOXES director and two-time Tony® winner Frank Galati, Tracy Michelle Arnold (Regina Giddens, THE LITTLE FOXES), and Christina DeCicco (Billie Dawn, BORN YESTERDAY). This insightful discussion will be helmed by Asolo Rep Dramaturg and Casting Associate Lauryn E. Sasso. 

Virginia Rep to Premiere END OF WAR by David L. Robbins Next Month

Virginia Repertory Theatre opens the World Premiere of The End of War by David L. Robbins on March 10, 2017, on the Arenstein Stage at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street. The End of War will have two preview performances on March 8 and 9, 2017, and will run through March 26, 2017.

Writers Theatre to Continue 2016-17 Season with THE SCENE

Azuka's Pay What You Decide Season Continues with World Premiere of SH_THEADS

Following a record, at-capacity run of How We Got On, Azuka Theatre continues their 2016-2017 "pay what you decide" season with the world premiere of Sh_theads. Developed in partnership with PlayPenn, playwright Douglas Williams and director Kevin Glaccum examine a down-and-out bike shop in lower Manhattan and the lives of the people who love to work there.

Theresa Rebeck Headlines 4th Wall Theatre's Inaugural Play Reading Festival

4th Wall Theatre Company launches its inaugural play reading festival, 4th Wall Reads:  Women's Voices.  Running March 2nd - March 12th at STUDIO 101, the festival showcases five exceptional female playwrights, including Pulitzer Prize finalist and renowned playwright Theresa Rebeck who is headlining the event.  The five plays, which are new to Houston audiences and range from insightful comedies to hard-hitting dramas, will be read twice over the 10-day festival with each reading to be followed by moderated talk-backs.  All general admission tickets are Pay What You Can, with a limited number of reserved seats available for advance purchase.

NNPN Rolling World Premiere of HOW TO USE A KNIFE to Play Phoenix Theatre

Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of How to Use a Knife opening January 19, 2017 on the Frank and Katrina Basile Stage. This production runs through February 12, 2017, with Bryan Fonseca serving as director.

Cast Set for U.S. Premiere of BEYOND CARING, Return of MOBY DICK at Lookingglass Theatre

Lookingglass Theatre Company announces casting for the final two shows of its 2016-2017 season, including the U.S. Premiere of Beyond Caring, written and directed by Alexander Zeldin in association with Dark Harbor Stories, a company led by Ensemble Member David Schwimmer and Tom Hodges, as well as the remount of the Jeff Award-winning Moby Dick, adapted from the novel by Herman Melville and directed by Ensemble Member David Catlin.
