Selections Announced for 2010 Yale Institute for Music Theatre

The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE (Mark Brokaw, Artistic Director; Beth Morrison, Producer) announces the original music theatre works that will receive two-week workshops in New Haven, June 13-27: THE DAUGHTERS by Shaina Taub and STUCK ELEVATOR by Byron Au Yong and Aaron Jafferis.

Vital Theatre Company Premieres MATTHEW TAKES MANNAHATTA, 10/17

The award-winning Vital Theatre Company's new production, MATTHEW TAKES MANNAHATTA, an original musical with book by Aurin Squire, lyrics by Sammy Buck, music by Daniel S. Acquisto and directed by Carlos Armesto, will open October 17th. The musical is based on the unpublished manuscript, Matthew's Secret Door by Christopher Paul Moore and Matthew Christopher Moore.

Latin Hip Hop Rock Musical KINGDOM Comes To ReVision Theater 4/16-5/3

ReVision Theatre will present the East Coast Premiere of the new Latin Hip Hop rock musical Kingdom, to play the VFW Theatre, 701 Lake Avenue, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, April 16-May 3. Carlos Armesto will direct, with music direction by Michael Thomas Murray and choreography by Tiffany Rachelle Stewart.

NAMT Announces Seven New Musicals Grant Recipients

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) is proud to announce seven grant recipients of the National Fund for New Musicals, a new major granting initiative to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaboration with writers to create, develop, and produce new musicals.

KINGDOM Anti- Gang Symposium Runs At VFW 4/16 - 5/3

ReVision Theatre will be hosting Kingdom Anti-Gang Symposium on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 7 - 9 pm at the VFW Theatre, 701 Lake Avenue, in Asbury Park, NJ. Kingdom, a Carlos Armesto-directed musical with books and lyrics by Aaron Jafferis and music by Ian Williams will be performed in conjunction with the symposium.

Old Globe Theatre to Produce New Hip-Hop/Rock Musical, 'Kingdom'

Louis G. Spisto, Executive Producer of the Tony Award®-winning Old Globe, is pleased to announce that the Theatre will produce the new hip-hop/rock musical KINGDOM, with book/lyrics by Aaron Jafferis and music by Ian Williams, directed by Ron Daniels, for 14 performances, February 12 - 22, 2009 at The Lincoln High School Center for the Arts (Feb 12-15) and at the Old Globe Theatre (Feb 19-22).

ReVision Theater Exposes Gang Violence Through Hip Hop Rock

ReVision Theatre is hitting the streets with a new show that exposes the impact of gang violence on the local community. The East Coast Premiere of Kingdom, a new Hip Hop Rock musical about the gang, the Latin Kings, will open in April, but the theatre company is already working hard to educate Asbury Park and surrounding communities about the growing number of gang members in Monmouth County. Events include a Kingdom Kick Off Party on March 7th, a Kingdom Exploration Symposium on March 19th, a Ticket Fund Campaign, and a cutting-edge interactive forum after every performance.

Submissions Being Accepted For Festival Of New Musicals

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) is accepting submissions for its 21st Annual Festival of New Musicals taking place in New York this fall. Submission Deadlines: (postmark) February 5, 2009 - Non-NAMT Member Professional Theatre Organizations and Literary Agencies (include the $60 registration fee) February 19, 2009 - NAMT Members and Alumni Festival Writers (no registration fee required) Any writer may apply, as long as the submission includes a letter of support from a NAMT member or any other professional theatre organization or an agent. If selected for the festival, the musical's writer and submitting organization have no financial obligation to NAMT, as NAMT fully funds the festival through contributions and sponsorships. Go to www.namt.org to read all submission guidelines and to fill out the new online application.
