Adelaide Festival Center to Unveil New Exhibit The Maj 100

To coincide with the launch of Her Majesty's Theatre Building Fund, The Performing Arts Collection and Adelaide Festival Centre have meticulously looked through 100 years of history to create The Maj 100 - an exhibition 100 years in the making. One significant image, (be it a photograph, poster or event) from each of the years Her Majesty's Theatre has been in operation has been selected to bring this breathtaking exhibition to life. The Maj 100 will highlight the importance of Her Majesty's Theatre to Adelaide's history and the many ways in which it has shaped our city.

Shakespeare Theatre Company to Honor John Hurt, Stacy Keach & Diana Rigg at 2014 Gala

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has selected John Hurt, Stacy Keach and Dame Diana Rigg as the 2014 recipients of The William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award), which recognizes artists who have made significant contributions to classical theatre in America. The Beech Street Foundation will be awarded the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. The awards will be presented at the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala on Sunday, October 5, 2014, hosted by STC at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) and the National Building Museum (440 G Street NW).

Critic John Lahr to Talk Tennessee Williams Biography at The Players This Month

The Shakespeare Guild's 2014-15 season will open with a conversation that will launch the U.S. author tour for a biography that actress Helen Mirren calls 'a masterpiece about a genius.' Only John Lahr, she says, 'with his perceptions about the theater, about writers, about poetry, and about people, could have written this book.' John Lahr will discuss his acclaimed biography of Tennessee Williams on Wednesday, September 24, at 6 p.m. at The Players.

Cincinnati Playhouse Stages SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE SUICIDE CLUB, Now thru 10/4

The world's most famous fictional sleuth adds a novel chapter to his repertoire with playwright Jeffrey Hatcher's electrifying new whodunit SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE SUICIDE CLUB, which opens the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's 55th season. The play is an inventive mash-up of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic characters and the Robert Louis Stevenson short story 'The Suicide Club,' providing a clever, intricately woven new mystery for Holmes to deduce. SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE SUICIDE CLUB runs today, Sept. 6 through Oct. 4 in the Robert S. Marx Theatre.

Playwrights Horizons Welcomes New Director of Marketing

After a national search, Playwrights Horizons announced today the appointment of Kyle Sircus as the institution's new Director of Marketing. Beginning Monday, September 22, Mr. Sircus will join the acclaimed theater company direct from Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, CA, where he currently serves as Marketing Manager, a position created especially for him in July 2012. Mr. Sircus will lead the theater company's seven-person Marketing Department.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Extended Cut to be Released in 2015

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has confirmed it will release an extended edition of Bryan Singer's X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, that will 'restor some of the scenes-and subplots-cut out of the original edition.'

Official: Helen Mirren Set to Return to Broadway in Peter Morgan's THE AUDIENCE; Dates and Theater Set

Academy Award winner Helen Mirren will return to Broadway this spring as Elizabeth II in Peter Morgan's THE AUDIENCE, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry. The limited engagement will play at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, 236 West 45th Street. Previews forTHE AUDIENCE begin on February 17 and opening night is March 8. It will run through June 28 2015.

FORGOTTEN VOICES to Host Commemorative Performance at Edinburgh Fringe, 4 August

Forgotten Voices, a play by Malcolm McKay based on the best-selling book Forgotten Voices of the Great War by Max Arthur, which is being staged at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, is holding a special commemorative performance at 10.30pm on 4 August, which will end at midnight, to mark the exact centenary of the outbreak of WWI.

The acclaimed stars of stage and screen who will be appearing as guest artists* are: Julian Sands and Robert Vaughn (30 July - 6 August), Christopher Timothy (14 - 18 August), Robert Powell (14 and 15 August), James Fleet (20 - 25 August) and Celia Imrie (20 - 22 August). They join core cast members: Philip Fox, Geoff Leesley, Gerrard McArthur and Wendy Nottingham. *Further guest casting is to be announced.
