Today in 1982, Macbeth opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where it ran for 21 performances. Written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is about a regicide and its aftermath. It is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and is believed to have been written sometime between 1603 and 1607. The earliest account of a performance of what was probably Shakespeare's play is April 1611, when Simon Forman recorded seeing such a play at the Globe Theatre.

PBS announced today that the second season of ITV's acclaimed British sitcom VICIOUS is returning to PBS on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at 10:30 p.m. ET. The six-part series will round out PBS' must-see Sunday night programming.

Richard Greenberg's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, Three Days of Rain, opens on Portland Center Stage's U.S. Bank Main Stage on May 22, with preview performances beginning May 17, 2015.

Celebrating 16 years, The Trevor Project will honor Sir Ian McKellen with the Trevor Hero Award at "TrevorLIVE New York" on June 15th at the Marriott Marquis, presented by Wells Fargo. McKellen will be honored for his ongoing support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community.
