HBO Films will present the premiere of Caryl Churchill's A Number, which Churchill has adapted for the screen for the broadcast giant. The telefilm stars Emmy Award-winner Tom Wilkinson and Rhys Ifans in this shattering meditation on human identity, as it examines the issues of human cloning and nature vs. nurture. A Number premieres on HBO Signature on Tuesday, December 29 at 9pm.

Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment, has announced, with Broadway In Chicago, casting for the Chicago production of Billy Elliot the Musical, beginning preview performances March 18, 2010 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph St.). Opening night is Sunday, April 11, 2010. The cast includes John Peter (J.P.) Viernes who joins the previously announced actors Tommy Batchelor, Giuseppe Bausilio and Cesar Corrales in the role of ‘Billy'.

Billy Elliot the Musical set a new box office record at the Imperial Theatre (240 West 45th Street) for the week ending November 29th. The production grossed $1,574,501.60 over eight performances. The previous record was held by The Boy from Oz with a gross of $1,489,354.00.

To celebrate, Giuseppe Bausilio, one of the three young actors playing the title role of Billy Elliot, will make a special appearance in the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Parade on Saturday, November 21 at 5:30 p.m. Billy Elliot will begin performances Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 W. There was a festive party at the Imperial Theatre after the show on Friday, November 13th with director Stephen Daldry and the Tony Award winning cast of Billy Elliot as they celebrated their one year anniversary. Variety is reporting that The Stephen Daldry-helmed revival of his 1992 production of An Inspector Calls, currently running in a limited engagement at the Novello Theatre in the West End, will transfer to Wyndhams Theatre in early December for a 16-week run. This move will fill the gap for the theatre created by the early closing of The Shawshank Redemption, as previously announced.
