Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company Reunite for 28-city National Tour

The Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company (TAC) reunite for a third year, presenting The Comedy of Errors, the hilarious tale of double mistaken identities, in repertory with Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's classic romance about star-crossed lovers, January 8 - 30, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.

Guthrie Theater & Acting Co. Present ROMEO AND JULIET/COMEDY OF ERRORS, 10/22

Joe Dowling of the Guthrie Theater and Margot Harley of The Acting Company have announced an expanded touring season beginning and ending in New York. This will be the third joint tour for the two TONY-winning theaters and will feature co-productions of Shakespeare's ROMEO AND JULIET directed by Penny Metropulos in repertory with THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, directed by Ian Belknap. Ms. Metropulos has directed at Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 19 years; Mr. Belknap, Associate Artistic Director of The Acting Company, has apprenticed under several master directors including Mark Lamos and Doug Hughes.

Writer/performer Ian Belknap will be in residence with us Aug. 28-Sept.4. From Chicago, this guy is bringing it all--a live writer's battle, two writer workshops, and his monologue performance of his highly acclaimed and very personal black comedy, Wide Open Beaver Shot of My Heart.

Ashland.

Under the direction of Guthrie associate artistic director John Miller-Stephany (1776, Jane Eyre, The Constant Wife), the show welcomes back many beloved Guthrie company members from the 1960s and 70s, including Barbara Bryne, Helen Carey, Patricia Conolly, Peter Michael Goetz and Linda Kelsey.

J.J. Kandel and John McCormack will present SUMMER SHORTS 3, their third annual festival of new American short plays, at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street). Performances begin Friday July 24th, and continue through Thursday August 27th.
