Steven Levenson has won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Dear Evan Hansen. This marks his first Tony nomination and win.

The Drama Book Shop is delighted to welcome playwright and librettist Steven Levenson (If I Forget, The Language of Trees) for a discussion and signing to celebrate the publication of his libretto for the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. Levenson will discuss the musical and his work with fellow playwright and Drama Book Shop Events Manager Steven Carl McCasland.

The Drama Book Shop will welcome playwright and librettist Steven Levenson (If I Forget, The Language of Trees) for a discussion and signing to celebrate the publication of his libretto for the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. Levenson will discuss the musical and his work with fellow playwright and Drama Book Shop Events Manager Steven Carl McCasland. The Wednesay, May 10th, 5:15 event is free and open to the public, but priority admission is given to those who purchase a copy of the libretto. 

Mary J. Davis / MBL Productions will present the World Premiere of Pressing Matters by Jennifer Jasper, directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt. Pressing Matters will begin performances on Saturday, April 15 and celebrate its opening night on Thursday, April 20 running through May 20, 2017 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street).

Charles Busch and Penny Fuller, who appeared together as bosom buddies Mame and Vera in Auntie Mame at the Bay Street Theatre, will lend their voices to Monahan & Oyen's DIVA: Live From Hell. Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife) will voice the manager of the dingy cabaret venue in Hell, where Desmond Channing (played by Monahan) is doomed to perform his torturous act for eternity. Fuller (Sunday in the Park with George, The Elephant Man), who was nominated for a Tony Award for her portrayal of Eve Harrington in the musical Applause, will voice the grandmother of Desmond Channing (loosely inspired by the character of Eve Harrington's nemesis, Margo Channing).

A friendly reminder that performances begin tomorrow, March 3, 2017 for an open-ended run at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues). Hot on the heels of the record-breaking, critically hailed Satchmo at the Waldorf, Mosaic Theater Company of DC's Season Two continues with Kirsten Greenidge's riotous, Obie Award-winning MILK LIKE SUGAR (November 2 - 27, 2016), under the direction of Mosaic Theater's Jennifer L. Nelson (The Gospel of Lovingkindness). The play, Mosaic's second DC premiere this season, is a rousing story about young women coming of age in a time when issues of acceptance, mentorship, and materialism challenge the dreams and ambitious of so many teens. It is the first of three plays in Mosaic's 2016-17 season to highlight issues affecting young urban teens and millennials, to be followed by the DC premiere of Philip Dawkins' intergenerational LGBTQ comedy Charm, and the world premiere of Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm's Hooded: Or Being Black for Dummies.
