According to Darkhorizons.com, Steven Spielberg mighthelm a big screen adaptation of A STEADY RAIN, which ran on Broadway back in 2009. Hugh Jackman, who starred in the show alongside Daniel Craig just revealed at Comic Con that they will both likely star in the film.

Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn Lipuma announce a one-week extension to the World Premiere of The Detective's Wife by Keith Huff, directed by Gary Griffin. Due to high demand, an additional six performances have been added for The Detective's Wife, now playing at Writers' Theatre, 664 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe, through August 14, 2011.

Fresh from their hit Broadway turns, Meghann Fahy (Next to Normal) and Andrew Durand (Spring Awakening) join the cast of The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown. Talkin' Broadway calls the show's writing team of Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk 'the most important young writers in musical theatre today.' This original musical for Broadway's next generation will run from August 4 through 28, 2011 at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn., Goodspeed's home for developing new works.

Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post today that Hugh Jackman's one-man concert, Hugh Jackman in Concert, could be gearing up for a Broadway engagement as yearly as this year. The concert, which opened to raves in San Francisco this spring and even greater praise in Toronto on July 5, has been the source of Broadway buzz for months. No doubt the Broadway favorite will be welcomed back warmly.

Toronto certainly has its share of 'headliners' this summer. Just this week, Hugh Jackman opened his one-man show at The Princess of Wales Theatre and Donny & Marie opened their two-week stint at the Four Seasons Performing Arts Centre, which is beautiful new venue that houses opera and ballets and has five tiers. Later this summer, Colm Wilkinson will be playing the same venue, in concert.

After a sold-out run in San Francisco, Mirvish Productions has brought Jackman's show to Toronto, which opened to rave reviews last night, July 5. The show runs through July 17. Jackman's show consists of a personal selection of his favourite musical numbers including selections from 'The Boy from Oz' and stories from his own experiences in Hollywood. Lieutenant Dan Choi, the war veteran who was discharged from the Army under 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' was welcomed at The Normal Heart last night by Normal Heart playwright Larry Kramer and New York State Senator Tom Duane, who was Senate sponsor of the recently passed New York Marriage Equality bill. Also on hand in the audience to show support was stage and screen favorite, Hugh Jackman. Lt. Choi, in his full military uniform, joined Larry Kramer to hand out 'Please Know' letters from the playwright to audience members immediately following the 7:00 PM performance.
