Starlight Theatre's 2013 Broadway Season will include flying cows, '80s dance craze, the ultimate con man, a little mermaid, rebellious teens, forbidden love and show-stopping musical numbers.

Today, Nancy Rhodes, Artistic Director announced that the Honorary Chairs, Sheldon Harnick and Maury Yeston join Encompass New Opera Theatre in celebrating Alan Menken's life in the American theatre, film and recording world tonight, October 21, 2012 at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, New York City.

Playful Theatre Productions presents the comic rock musical "Little Shop of Horrors" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Dates and times for this production are Fridays, tonight, Oct. 19 and the 26th at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 20 and 27 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Oct. 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance tonight, Oct. 19.

In a reprise of her highly-praised March 2012 run of her cabaret show, 'Illusions,' at the Metropolitan Room that served as a launch party for her new CD of the same name, Marissa Mulder proved again that her rise as a New York cabaret princess is no illusion.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast, the award-winning worldwide smash hit Broadway musical, is coming to Cleveland as part of the KeyBank Broadway Series. Produced by NETworks Presentations, this elaborate theatrical production will come to life on stage at PlayhouseSquare for two weeks; November 6-18.

Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre presents Beauty and the Beast with Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and Book by Linda Woolverton. The show will run from November 2, 2012 through November 18, 2012: Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Saturday (beginning November 10) and Sunday at 2pm. All performances will take place at Firehouse Arts Center, located at 4444 Railroad Avenue located in Pleasanton, Calif.

Today in 2003, Little Shop of Horrors opened at the Virginia THeatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 372 performances. Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, 'Skid Row (Downtown)', 'Somewhere That's Green', and 'Suddenly, Seymour'.
