For the third performance in the ongoing Bryant Park Presents New York City Opera series, New York City Opera will present a free preview of its upcoming production of Puccini's La Fanciulla del West on Tuesday, August 22 at 6 p.m.

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado, celebrating its 30th season, for the Orchestra's 15th annual summer residency, July 21-28, 2017. The residency will include six orchestral concerts that honor the Philharmonic's legacy on the occasion of its 175th anniversary season and the conclusion of Alan Gilbert's tenure as Music Director.

Lyric Unlimited has announced casting for the Chicago premiere of Fellow Travelers. Tenor Jonas Hacker and baritone Joseph Lattanzi will sing the lead roles of Timothy Laughlin and Hawkins Fuller, two men who fall in love during the height of the McCarthy era in 1950s Washington D.C. Devon Guthrie will sing the role of Mary Johnson, Hawkins's assistant and Timothy's confidante.

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century has announced that the 2017-18 season, ERC's 17th, will take place at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenues) beginning August 10th with Van Gogh's Ear. Opening Night is set for August 17th. This limited Off-Broadway engagement runs through September 10th only.

A.D. Players, one of Houston's oldest and largest resident theater companies, presents 'Godspell,' its final mainstage show for the 2017 season. Based on the New Testament Gospel of Matthew, this re-imagined, updated version of Stephen Schwartz's Broadway classic takes place in an untraditional setting, and includes the show's parade of beloved musical classics, including 'Day by Day,' 'Learn Your Lessons Well,' 'All for the Best,' 'All Good Gifts,' 'By My Side' and 'Beautiful City.' The show runs July 21 - August 13, and BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo has signed to Universal Music Group's US-based classical label, Decca Gold.

Beginning in the 2017-18 season, the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artists Development Program welcomes five new young artists into the acclaimed program established by Met Music Director Emeritus James Levine in 1980. Along with the returning nine participants, the program will train a new generation of artists, including opera singers, coaches, and pianists.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces a change in the casting of the LookOut Series Concert Reading of Standup Shakespeare. This event, which is a benefit concert reading for the theatre, will still feature the extraordinary talent of Steppenwolf co-founder Jeff Perry and Broadway legend Alice Ripley. Joining them will be Grammy and Clio Award-winning Opera singer Thomas Young, who was in the original Off-Broadway production directed by Mike Nichols and is featured on the Standup Shakespeare cabaret review album recorded in 1995.

World premieres, new productions, and exciting artist debuts will make the 59th season at Sarasota Opera a season not to miss. Highlights of the upcoming year include the return of Giuseppe Verdi, the 6th Sarasota Youth Opera world premiere, and operas by composers such as Vincenzo Bellini and Eugen D'Albert whose operas have not been heard on our stage.

Placido Domingo announced today that Grant Gershon has renewed his contract as Resident Conductor of LA Opera through the end of the 2019/20 season. 

The Glimmerglass Festival has released the details of its 2018 schedule. For a second year, the Festival's programming will explore themes of home and country.

Rehearsals begin today for the Broadway premiere of Prince of Broadway, a musical celebration that highlights the extraordinary six-decade career of director and producer Harold Prince. This limited engagement is produced by Manhattan Theatre Club (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer), by special arrangement with Gorgeous Entertainment.

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) has appointed Molly Dill to the newly created position of producing director, it was announced by HGO Managing Director Perryn Leech. An HGO staff member since 2003, Dill most recently served as the company's general manager. One of Dill's first acts in her new role was to hire Paul Spittle as technical director. He will begin his duties in August.

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) has appointed Dale Edwards, a veteran of the New York performing arts marketing and advertising world, to the position of marketing director, it was announced by HGO Managing Director Perryn Leech. He assumes the position July 24.
