Ruth Eckerd Hall Celebrates Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th Anniversary 4/26

The Black Jacket Symphony celebrates the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with a full live recreation-plus a full set of The Beatles' greatest hits at Ruth Eckerd Hall On Thursday, April 26 at 8 pm.  Dedicated to recreating classic rock albums note for note, sound for sound, The Black Jacket Symphony is bringing along the Florida Rock Orchestra for what will be the concert experience of the year.  Featuring a full video wall, lighting, and state-of-the-art graphics, the show is a full rock concert experience.  Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 1 at noon.

A 19th Century Musical Gangster Comes to the Stage in MACAIRE

Thomas G. Waites TGW ACTING STUDIO is pleased to announce the world premiere production of Thomas Waites' musical MACAIRE. Directed by Waites and musically directed by Steffani Bennett, the show will play a limited engagement at Teatro Latea (107 Suffolk St., NYC). Performances begin Tuesday, August 1 and continue through Sunday, August 13th. Opening Night is Friday, August 4 (8 p.m.). $25 tickets are available now at brownpapertickets.com.

BWW Review: AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE Serves up a Phantasmagorical Helping of Whipped Cream

An overview on the NYC Metropolitan Opera web site of choreographer Alexei Ratmansky's newest work, “Whipped Cream”, calls the ballet a “dollop of delightful whimsy”. Yet the full-length production by ABT's Artist in Residence, with a run at the opera house from May 23rd to July 1st 2017, is in fact a heaping serving of horror-infused revelry complete with drunken characters and an illness caused by overindulgence in sweets.

The 7th Annual Season of Blast Friday comes to a close with free, live Home Cookin' music from local favorites The Greg Billings Band and The Black Honkeys on Friday, May 26 from 5:30 to 10 pm on the Tampa Bay Times Stage, which will be located on Osceola in downtown Clearwater facing the Capitol Theatre. A private first-act developmental reading of the new musical adaptation of 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' will be presented May 23rd at 3pm at the MTC Studios, and May 24th at 7pm in Stephen Schwartz's ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop. Originally developed in the BMI Workshop (A Chorus Line, Ragtime, Avenue Q) by Gregory Bonsignore (Book/Lyrics) and Aaron Kenny (Music), it will be directed by Michael Berresse (Obie winner, Title of Show, Golden Apple).
