First Lower East Side Community Hero Awards Set for 5/4 at Pier 42

The Steering Committee of Lower East Side History Month announces the inaugural ceremony to present the first Lower East Side Community Hero Awards. The awards are being presented to Ruth Taube, Steve Cannon, Robert Graf, Mimi Stern-Wolfe, and Detective Jaime Hernandez. Presenting the awards will be Bob Holman (Bowery Arts & Science), Carolyn Ratcliffe (Arts Loisaida), Silva Ajemian (First Street Green), Lori Weissman (LES Jewish Conservancy), David Garza (Henry Street Settlement), and the office of Councilwoman Rosie Mendez.

Anthony Rodriguez to Participate in 2014 NALAC LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures- NALAC announced today the names of the participants for their 14th Annual NALAC Leadership Institute that will take place July 14-19, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. The Leadership Institute convenes Latino arts leaders for an intensive, one-week training in nonprofit arts management and leadership development. Anthony Rodriguez is one of the twenty-eight participants that will be part of the 2014 NALAC Leadership Institute.

The program includes the debut of Flores Chiapanecas (Flowers from Chiapas) to be performed with live marimba accompaniment. Third Annual Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards Announces Finalists; Ceremony Set for Tonight

In celebration of outstanding achievement in high school musical theater performances, Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce the twenty-four finalists for the Third Annual Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards. Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Opens DIGITAL HAND at 709 Penn Gallery Today

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces the opening of the visual art exhibition Digital Hand. On view today, April 25-May 25, 2014, at the Trust's 709 Penn Gallery, the exhibition features works created by students participating in a course exploring the sculptural possibilities of digital fabrication taught by Tom Lauerman, assistant professor of art at the Penn State School of Visual Arts (SoVA). The exhibition, which is made possible by The Penn State Center Pittsburgh, opens during the Trust's Gallery Crawl in the Cultural District, April 25, 2014, 6-9 p.m.
