Opera Paralléle Premieres New Season with DEAD MAN WALKING This Weekend

Acclaimed contemporary opera company Opera Parallèle will open its 2015 season with the premiere of a new production of Jake Heggie's landmark work Dead Man Walking-marking the 15th anniversary of one of the most widely performed operas of the 21st century-in three performances this weekend, February 20 and 21, 2015 at 8 pm and February 22, 2015 at 2 pm at YBCA Theater in San Francisco.

2015 Hunting Art Prize Announces Finalists

HOUSTON, Feb. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ Hunting PLC announced that 110 artists have been selected to move on to the final round of judging in the 2015 Hunting Art Prize in which participants vie for a $50,000 award. The competition, which is celebrating its 35 th anniversary, is the largest prize in the category of painting and drawing available in North America.

LA Opera to Perform NOAH'S FLOOD, 3/6

Los Angeles) January 10, 2015 — LA Opera professional artists will once again collaborate with more than 300 amateur members of the Los Angeles musical community to present two performances of Benjamin Britten's Noah's Flood this spring at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Conducted by LA Opera Music Director James Conlon, the performances will take place at 7:30pm on Friday, March 6, and at 7:30pm on Saturday, March 7.

Mercer County Artists Award Announced

The Mercer County arts community came out in force to view the rich and varied works of fellow artists at the Awards Ceremony and Opening Reception for “Mercer County Artists 2015” on February 4. The exhibit is on display through February 27 at the Gallery at Mercer County Community College (MCCC), located on the second floor of the Communications Building on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

In January Funding Arts Broward members joined three well-known artists for a celebratory New Year's luncheon. In the dramatic exhibition event space at NSU Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, the photographs of three groundbreaking painters, Francis Picabia, Julian Schnabel & J.F. Willumsen, connected in the Museum's latest visual art show Cafe Dolly, silently hosted the room full of FAB! members. Lantern Theater Company to Present THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, 3/19-5/3

The battle of the sexes becomes a sensual tango in Lantern Theater Company's production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, running March 19-May 3. Directed by Charles McMahon, the production features David Bardeen, K.O. DelMarcelle, Nathan Foley, J Hernandez, Dave Johnson, Joanna Liao, Ahren Potratz, Matt Tallman, and Bradley K. Wrenn.

ASSASSINS to Run 2/27-3/22 at The Circuit Playhouse

Poet Logan Phillips to Read from New Collection at Book Release Event in Phoenix

The Arizona Commission on the Arts and the ASU School of Theatre and Film's Performance in the Borderlands will present an evening of poetry and performance commemorating the release of Sonoran Strange, a book-length poetry collection by Tucson poet Logan Phillips, on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. The event is sponsored by AZ Humanities.
