BWW Review: DETC's Production of ELECTION DAY is a Winner

Westport Country Playhouse will host the second annual 'Letters to Our Daughters,' a free-of-charge event to celebrate International Women's Day, on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. A diverse group of 13 women, including Tony Award winners Joanna Gleason and Judith Ivey, and 'This Is Us' series regular Susan Kelechi Watson, will read essays and poems written by female authors on global women's issues.

Each year, Circle Circle dot dot has led delighted audiences through the streets, hallways, corridors, restaurants, and bars as a unique and exciting love story unfolds in each real-world backdrop. This year's adventure is inspired by the trials and tribulations of identifying as bisexual in the world of online dating. Audiences will have the option to view different versions of this performance: one through the eyes of a bisexual woman, the other a bisexual man. Both SAN DIEGO, I LOVE YOU #SWIPERIGHT iterations are inspired by true stories from local voices and their hilarious experiences in searching for love in this gender/sexuality-redefining, digital age.

Dan Guerrero Honored With CASA 0101 Theater Brown & Out Inspiration Award

Dan Guerrero, the award-winning producer, director, writer and actor was honored for his activism and support of the LBGTQ+ community with the first ever CASA 0101 Theater Brown & Out Inspiration Award prior to Opening Night performance of CASA 0101 Theater's "Brown & Out IV" Play Festival celebrating the LGBTQ+ Latinexperience on Friday, February 9, 2018. The award was presented by Corky Dominguez, a director, writer and producer of "Brown & Out IV." Edward Padilla, President of CASA 0101 Theater, read a Certificate of Recognition from Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, 53rd District of Los Angeles, for Dan Guerrero and then presented it to him on behalf of the Assemblymember.

Porchlight Music Theatre announced that Lorenzo Rush Jr has replaced James Earl Jones II in Porchlight Revisits They're Playing Our Song, music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager and book by Neil Simon, with direction and choreography by Christopher Carter and musical direction by Andra Velis Simon. Porchlight Revisits They're Playing our Song is presented for three-nights-only Tuesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 8 at 7:15 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's Merrily We Roll Along (previews begin January 26) at Porchlight's new home, The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street. Tickets for They're Playing Our Song are $35. All tickets include access to the popular pre-performance event, Behind the Show Backstory, a multimedia presentation, created and hosted by Porchlight Music Theatre Artistic Director Michael Weber that discusses the evening's production including the show's creative history, juicy backstage gossip and the state of the art on Broadway that season. The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the world premiere of MLIMA'S TALE, written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage. Directed by Obie Award winner Jo Bonney, MLIMA'S TALE continues The Public's Astor Anniversary Season at their landmark downtown home on Lafayette Street, celebrating 50 years of new work and the 50th Anniversary of HAIR. MLIMA'S TALE begins performances on Tuesday, March 27 and runs through Sunday, May 20 in The Public's Martinson Hall, with an official press opening on Sunday, April 15.
