Live @ Benaroya Hall announces an exciting roster of spring performances for 2017 featuring artists and musicians from around the world. Additional shows will be announced in the coming months. Anda Union Unveil Forgotten Mongolian Musical Treasures in Canadian Debut

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents the Canadian premiere of Anda Union, the renowned folk group hailing from regions across Inner Mongolia, March 26 at 8pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. The nine-member ensemble will captivate with a transcendent fusion of ancient sounds created through haunting throat singing and music performed on such rare instruments as the horse head fiddle and two-stringed lute.
John Patitucci Teams Up with Daedalus Quartet in Philadelphia

LiveConnections continues their exciting season of string innovations on Tuesday, April 18 when legendary bassist John Patitucci teams up with the acclaimed Daedalus Quartet, currently in-residence at the University of Pennsylvania, for a one-night concert that will cross a wide variety of genres. Commissioned by LiveConnections, Patitucci will be writing new music for string quintet (the Quartet plus himself), as part of a program fusing jazz and classical styles. The 7:30PM show will take place at Philadelphia's World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut Street).
World Music Institute in collaboration with National Sawdust present Philip Glass & Foday Musa Suso

This event, presented by World Music Institute in collaboration with National Sawdust, is one of the highlights of the Glass @ 80 celebrations around the world. Philip Glass and Foday Musa Suso famously collaborated on the album The Screens (composed as music for a production of the play by Jean Genet), the score for the film Powaqqatsi, and on the concert work Orion. At National Sawdust, the two artists will come together again for an intimate and collaborative performance. The show will include two special guests: percussionist Asher Delerme and cellist Jeffrey Zeigler.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents Noche Flamenca'sAntigona, their critically-acclaimed work fusing flamenco and Greek tragedy, March 12 at 7pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Adapted from Sophocles' Antigone, and starring Bessie-award winner Soledad Barrio as the lead, Antigona looks at repression, heroism and loss in a fiery, multi-media spectacle.
