Haydn Gwynne, Stephen Bogardus, Lauren Molina and More Lead A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, Beginning Tonight at Huntington

The Huntington Theatre Company opens its 2015-2016 season with the Tony Award-winning musical A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim's most romantic and popular work, led by Tony and Olivier nominee Haydn Gwynne, as well as Broadway's Stephen Bogardus and Lauren Molina. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (after all the terrible things I do; Smart People; Rapture, Blister, Burn; and Becky Shaw) will direct. Performances will run tonight, September 11, through October 11, 2015 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre.

Philip Glass Set for Days And Nights Festival, 9/24-27

The acclaimed Days and Nights Festival, founded and curated by Philip Glass, returns for its fifth edition September 24-27 with four days of performances in Big|Brave Sur and Monterey, CA. Highlights of the long weekend include the first screening/performance of Godfrey Reggio and Glass's collaboration Naqoyqatsi in over a decade, with live score performed by the Philip Glass Ensemble and Matt Haimovitz on cello; Glass's Complete Piano Etudes performed by Glass himself along with pianists Timo Andres and Maki Namekawa, preceded by a locally sourced picnic lunch underneath the redwoods of Big|Brave Sur; the return of the popular 'Philip & Friends' program of music and spoken word withJerry Quickley and Mike Garry, Dutch harpist Lavinia Meijer, kora player and Mandingo griot Foday Musa Susa, cellistJeffrey Zeigler, David Harding on viola and Glass on piano; plus free film screenings and talks in conjunction withSundance Film Festival Best Shorts 2015 and the Ambulante California Documentary Film Festival (screening details to come). ICT's SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM to Run 10/16-11/8

International City Theatre winds up its 30th anniversary season with an intimate portrait of musical icon Stephen Sondheim in his own words and music. DJ Gray directs and stages the Los Angeles premiere of James Lapine's award-winning Broadway hit, Sondheim on Sondheim. Previews are set for October 14 and 15, and opening night is October 16 at ICT's newly renovated home in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center.

Greg Kotis' PIG FARM to Receive West End Premiere, October 21

Dead Posh Productions is thrilled to be bringing Pig Farm, by Tony Award® winning writer Greg Kotis, to the St. James Theatre for its UK Premiere. Dead Posh Productions will be co-producing alongside Julian Stoneman Associates, who brought the smash hit Urinetown The Musical, by the same author and to the same theatre, before its transfer to the Apollo Theatre. Pig Farm has a limited run at the St. James Theatre from 21 October until 21 November, with press night on 28 October. The creative team and full casting will beannounced in due course.

Stephen Sondheim & More to be Honored at Carl Sandburg Literary Awards

The Chicago Public Library Foundation and the Chicago Public Library have announced that the 16th annual Carl Sandburg Literary Award will be presented to legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Universally heralded for his immense contributions to musical theater in a career spanning more than 50 years, Sondheim will be honored at the Carl Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at The Forum (725 W. Roosevelt Road) on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago.

SHOUT! to Premiere at Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival, 9/12-20

'SHOUT! The Drama of an Invisible Black Man of a Certain Age in the Last Days of Political Correctness' is a play for one man written by noted African-American playwright Henry Miller and performed by noted opera singer Arthur Woodley. Its world premiere will be presented September 12 to 20 by Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival.

San Francisco Playhouse will complete its twelfth season with Stephen Sondheim's trailblazing musical comedy, Company, directed by Susi Damilano. The play will feature a cast of local favorites, with Keith Pinto (Into the Woods) starring as Robert, along with Teresa Attridge, Velina Brown*, Morgan Dayley, Michelle Drexler, Ryan Drummond*, Richard Frederick*, John Paul Gonzalez, Monique Hafen*, Stephanie Prentice*, Chris Reber*, Abby Sammons, Nicole Weber and Michael Scott Wells.

Charlene Brooks Brings an Evening of Sondheim to the Skokie Theatre Tonight

Chicago born singer, cabaret performer, writer, lyricist and actress, Charlene Brooks, returns to the Skokie Theatre in Putting It Together, directed by Dale Calandra, tonight, June 27 at 8 p.m. at the Skokie Theatre, 7924 N. Lincoln Ave. Brooks will be performing with her six piece band including Kevin Disch, piano; Jim Cox, bass; Eric Monzka, drums and Doug Schuler on trumpet leading the horn section. BWW Reviews: In The Midst Of The Biggest Water Supply Crisis In Sao Paulo, 'URINAL - O Musical' (Urinetown) Debuts With Very Crowded Sessions.

URINAL - O Musical, the Brazilian version of URINITOWN, directed by Ze Henrique de Paula, arrives in Sao Paulo at the Teatro do Nucleo Experimental, in Barra Funda. The stage production, whose project was awarded by Ze Renato Theater Award, has as its main inspiration the German cabarets of the first half of the twentieth century, especially the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill.
