BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL Extends For One Final Weekend

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of a Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Play or Musical Adaptation, brings to the stage the world premiere musical, Blueberries for Sal, written by Washington, D.C. Helen Hayes Nominated playwrights Michael J. Bobbitt and Sandra Eskin and featuring new music and lyrics by William Yanesh (Caps for Sale, Winnie the Pooh). Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the book by Robert McCloskey, this female helmed musical is recommended for all ages and closes October 28, 2018.

The Old Globe will expand San Diego's celebration of the holidays with a world premiere American musical about family, faith, and the magic of Christmas. The Globe is delighted to announce the complete cast and creative team for Looking for Christmas, the new Clint Black Christmas musical, inspired by the country music legend's 1995 chart-topping holiday album. With music and lyrics by Clint Black, book by James D. Sasser with Black, based on an idea by Sasser and Black, music supervision and music direction by Matt Hinkley, and directed by Kent Nicholson, Looking for Christmas will run November 11 - December 16, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $39.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run November 11-19. Opening night is Tuesday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m.

Moss & Kitty Carlisle Hart New Play Initiative Winners to Run In Rep At GTC Burbank

Two new character-driven relationship plays, both by award-winning women writers and both inspired by events currently at the forefront of our national consciousness, beat out 1241 other submissions in the inaugural Moss Hart & Kitty Carlisle Hart New Play Initiative. Hart NPI artistic director Christopher Hart will direct Silver Medallion-winning plays Confederates by Suzanne Bradbeer, opening Nov. 9, and Exit Wounds by Wendy Graf, opening Nov. 16, at Grove Theater Center in Burbank, where the two plays will continue to run in repertory through Dec. 16. One will be the named the Gold Medallion winner and open on March 13, 2019 for a six-week, off-Broadway run in the 196-seat "Theater A" at 59E59 Theaters in New York City.

Studio Theatre's Board of Trustees today announces that Rebecca Ende Lichtenberg will join the organization as Managing Director beginning in December 2018. She joins Studio, long regarded as one of Washington, DC's most daring presenters of new and contemporary theatre, in its 40th anniversary season. She comes to Studio from Theater J, the nation's most prominent Jewish theatre and a cultural touchstone in Washington, DC, where she served as Managing Director and, earlier, Director of Marketing and Communications. She was selected after a rigorous nationwide search conducted by Managing Consultants for the Arts.
