Openings Start Monday Night For The Pool At The Flea Theater

The Pool, a pop-up theater company, will present three new plays in rotating rep from November 15 - December 16, 2017 in a limited 5-week engagement at The Flea Theater's brand-new Tribeca home, located at 20 Thomas Street. The plays are Susan Bernfield's TANIA IN THE GETAWAY VAN directed by Portia Krieger, Peter Gil-Sheridan's THE RAFA PLAY directed by Morgan Gould, and Lynn Rosen's WASHED UP ON THE POTOMAC directed by Jos Zayas.

New London Barn Playhouse Wins NETC Moss Hart Memorial Award for ALL SHOOK UP

The New London Barn Playhouse has capped its historic 85th summer season by becoming the 2017 recipient of the New England Theatre Conference's (NETC) Moss Hart Memorial Award for Professional Excellence, for its August production of All Shook Up. This is the second Moss Hart Award won by the Barn in as many years.

Northern Stage to Charter New $1.25 Million Program

The Pussycat Foundation and Northern Stage announce an unprecedented new program to support women artistic directors in professional theaters across the United States. The BOLD Theater Women's Leadership Circle, funded by the Pussycat Foundation and led by Carol Dunne, Producing Artistic Director of Northern Stage, will provide $1.25 million in support for Northern Stage and four other theaters run by women artistic directors during the 2018-2019 season. Each theater will receive a $250,000 grant. The BOLD Circle's mission is to create a network of women artistic directors in professional theaters across the United States and empower them to address the issues preventing women from advancing in theater leadership. The BOLD Circle will offer major support of artistic initiatives focused on women artists and will create a formal mentorship program to train and prepare future women artistic directors to lead, to create, to innovate, and to deepen the impact of theater on American culture.

Original Musical-Burlesque Production From Verlaine & McCann Comes to Seattle

Verlaine & McCann's annual celebration of wine, beauty, and frivolity is back and on stage in the form of Burlesco DiVino: Wine In Rome, an original musical-burlesque fantasia. Lily Verlaine and Jasper McCann are the Seattle-based producers who bring the city its holiday tradition, Land Of The Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker, a spectacle that has earned them national critical-acclaim for their commitment to professional-level classical dance talent and extraordinary production elements in their visual story telling.

Northern Stage Producing Artistic Director Receives Genius Grant

The Pussycat Foundation, established in the spirit of Cosmopolitan Magazine editor Helen Gurley Brown, has awarded Northern Stage's Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne a Genius Grant of $250,000 for her achievements in theater arts, recognizing her as a pioneering artist and artistic director. The Pussycat Foundation awards Genius Grants to individuals who dedicate their lives to transformative work with bold leadership and vision. The dollars awarded to Carol are split evenly between Northern Stage and the New London Barn Playhouse, which Carol led from 2008-2014.

AMNH To Host Third Annual HACK THE SACKS

This weekend, the Museum holds its third annual hackathon event, 'Hack the Stacks.' Surrounded by the volumes that make up one of the largest natural history libraries in the world, more than 150 programmers, developers, data scientists and others with a passion for computer science will have 24 hours (November 19-20) to develop solutions for 21st-century library challenges. Among the projects, the 'hackers' will be developing modules to virtually re-create the Museum at various points in history and digitally reassemble fragments from Charles Darwin's scientific notebooks.
