Whilst the 1930s may be almost a century behind us, the suspense that this aged text brings rivals that of any psychological thriller on the silver screen these days.

Fiery Angel and Royal & Derngate Northampton present Agatha Christie's Love From A Stranger, directed by Lucy Bailey. The production will launch in Northampton and play for three weeks from Friday 23 February, before embarking on a UK wide tour.

Director Lucy Bailey has solid form with adaptations of Agatha Christie stories; her Olivier-award nominated version of Witness For The Prosecution is currently a hit at County Hall. She has also directed Dial M For Murder and Gaslight, so it is not entirely surprising that this touring version of Love From a Stranger is a taut and compelling thriller.

Love From A Stranger, by Agatha Christie, tells of Cecily Harrington's whirlwind romance with a handsome and charming stranger. Sweeping her off her feet, she recklessly abandons her old life to settle in the remote and blissful surroundings of a country cottage. However, Nigel Lawrence, her newfound love, is not all that he seems.

Agatha Christie and Frank Vosper's Love from a Stranger returns to the stage in this collaboration between Royal and Derngate and Firey Angel. And it's a disconcerting experience, as what starts off seeming like a conventional enough story turns into something altogether creepier.

Casting has been announced for George Bernard Shaw's THE PHILANDERER at the Orange Tree Theatre. Rupert Young (High Society at the Old Vic, Sir Leon in BBC's Merlin) plays Leonard Charteris, the philanderer of the title. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Timberlake Wertenbaker's Olivier Award-winning play, Our Country's Good, Out of Joint will present a series of staged readings of Timberlake's work. This will include the acclaimed play Three Birds Alighting on a Field, which will be directed by Max Stafford-Clark, and The Grace of Mary Traverse directed by Blanche McIntyre. Out of Joint will also present the world premiere of Timberlake's new play - Jefferson's Garden.
