Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, opens its 2013-2014 season with New Dances PLUS: Edition 2013, Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15, 2013 in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater and features Juilliard alumna Pina Bausch's Wind von West (Wind from the West) performed by the Senior Class, plus three world premiere commissions created for each of the classes of Juilliard's Dance Division. Next season's innovative choreographers are Juilliard alumnus Takehiro Ueyama (1st Year Dancers); Brian Brooks (2nd Year Dancers); and Juilliard alumnus Darrell Grand Moultrie (3rd Year Dancers).

Juilliard dancers perform Four Brubeck Pieces by Murray Louis; Sunset by Paul Taylor; and One Flat Thing, reproduced by William Forsythe. Performances take place on Wednesday, April 3, Thursday, April 4, Friday, April 5, Saturday, April 6, at 8 PM, with a Sunday matinee on April 7 at 3 PM, in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

Now in its third season, TrancenDanceGroup announces the fall performances of 'Unveiled Souls' at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center tonight, November 10th and the 11th, featuring the world premiere of company director/choreographer Gabriel Chajnik's Crescent and full, and G*D, a multimedia dance work in progress about a holocaust survivor. 'Unveiled Souls ' presents two microcosms of human frailty and hope, communicated through provocative and emotionally charged choreography that is sometimes poetic, sometimes edgy. Music ranges from an original score by musician and Grammy Award-winning producer Barry Goldstein commissioned for TrancenDanceGroup to pieces by Henryk Gorecky, Ernst Bloch, and others.

It was George Bernard Shaw who famously defined dancing as 'the vertical expression of a horizontal desire.' And indeed everything from classical ballet to hip-hop has presented humanity's most passionate (and most tragic) yearnings more artfully than real life ever could. This week that terpsichorean ardor was displayed in two very different productions on Dublin's south side; Tango Pasión at the Grand Canal Theatre and Ballet Ireland's Romeo and Juliet at the Gaiety Theatre.
