Oratorio Society of New York Announces 2021-2022 Season

The Oratorio Society of New York has announced its 2021-2022 season of concerts at Carnegie Hall and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The season begins on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 7:30pm at the Cathedral of St. John Divine with a highly-anticipated concert featuring Britten’s Festival Te Deum and Rejoice in the Lamb.

Conductor And Organist Kent Tritle's Full 2021-22 Season Of Events Announced

Kent Tritle's 2021-22 season schedule features a full slate of events: he leads five concerts at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine with the Cathedral Choir, four with Oratorio Society of New York, four with Musica Sacra, and three with groups at the Manhattan School of Music.

The 2019-20 season of the Oratorio Society of New York, the city's standard for grand choral performance led by its acclaimed music director, Kent Tritle, is highlighted by two premieres that reflect its 146-year history: the U.S. premiere of a new critical edition of a Brahms masterwork that the Society performed in 1877; and the world premiere of A Nation of Others, an OSNY-commissioned oratorio for soloists, chorus, and orchestra by composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell on the subject of immigrants' arrival at Ellis Island.

Oratorio Society Of NY Announces Winners For Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition 2019

The baritone Steven Eddy, a native of Laurel, MD, is the First Place winner of the Oratorio Society of New York's 2019 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition. The awards to the eight finalists were announced by Competition Chairwoman Janet Plucknett following their performances in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 6. The Oratorio-Solo Competition, the only competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing, is now in its 43rd year. The full list of finalists and prizes is:

Tenor Joshua Blue Wins 2017 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition

The tenor Joshua Blue is the First Place winner of the Oratorio Society of New York (OSNY)'s 2017 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition. The award was presented following a performance by eight finalists in Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 8. The Oratorio-Solo Competition, the only competition to focus exclusively on oratorio singing and now in its 40th year. The full list of finalists and prizes is:
